Microsoft Corp.’s MSFT Activision has clarified that the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not require a 300 GB download, contrary to earlier messaging.

This reassurance comes after players noticed the Xbox store page listing a hefty 309.85 GB download requirement, which caused significant concern given the limited storage capacities of Sony Group Corp.‘s SONY PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S consoles.

"Correction: The estimated file size currently displayed on the Black Ops 6 pre-order pages does not represent the download size or disk footprint for Black Ops 6,” Activision explained in a post on X/Twitter.

The sizes shown include the full installations of Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Warzone and all relevant content packs, including all localized languages combined which is not representative of a typical player install experience."

The company emphasized that players will have the option to download only Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 without additional language packs, potentially reducing the storage space required.

However, Activision did not disclose the exact file size, promising to provide more information closer to the game’s launch.

This news follows the recent reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Treyarch's latest addition to the Black Ops series, showcased at the Xbox Games Showcase and Black Ops 6 Direct.

Set in the ’90s, the game introduces new weapons, omnidirectional movement, and new Zombies maps for its round-based mode. Notably, content from Modern Warfare 2 and 3 will not be carried over to Black Ops 6, marking a fresh start for the franchise.
