Palworld's latest update has introduced a new island, Sakurajima, along with a slew of new Pals, enemies, and items.
This significant update, the largest since the game’s release in January 2024, has reignited interest, leading to an increase in player numbers across all platforms, Insider Gaming reported.

The game’s resurgence is most evident on Steam. Prior to the update, Palworld’s peak concurrent player count hovered around 15,000.
Post-update, this number skyrocketed to over 130,000, marking a remarkable increase of more than 700%.
Despite this surge, Palworld is unlikely to reach the heights of its initial success. In January, the game hit a peak of 2.1 million concurrent players on Steam, a feat driven by its unique "Pokémon with guns" premise.
This blend of familiar creature-collecting mechanics with combat elements drew in a massive player base, making Palworld one of the most-played games on the platform at its peak.
Pocket Pair, the developer of Palworld, has more in store for the game’s future. A new arena mode is set to launch later this year, allowing players to engage in battles against each other in a manner reminiscent of traditional Pokémon battles, but with the addition of Palworld’s distinctive combat elements, including assault rifles and grenades.
