Nakanishi, known for revitalizing the series with Resident Evil 7, will be leading the development of this highly anticipated sequel.

“It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7],” Nakanishi admitted. “But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can’t share any details just yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.”

Nakanishi’s history with the franchise is extensive. Besides Resident Evil 7, he directed Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D for the Nintendo 3DS and the first Resident Evil Revelations game and he also contributed as a designer on Resident Evil 5.

The Legacy Of Resident Evil

Resident Evil has been a cornerstone of the survival horror genre since its inception in 1996. The series has seen numerous iterations, each bringing its unique flavor while maintaining the core elements of survival horror.

From the campy yet iconic original to the groundbreaking Resident Evil 4 and the more recent, first-person horror of Resident Evil 7, the franchise has continuously evolved, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Capcom’s Busy Year

In addition to Resident Evil 9, Capcom has had a busy year with several significant announcements. Rumors of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica remakes have been circulating, adding to the excitement surrounding the franchise.

Capcom’s summer showcase also highlighted other upcoming titles, including a new Kunitsu-Gami demo and the release date for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
