Steam has reached a new milestone, recording 37,258,432 concurrent players on Aug. 25, 2024.
The record for concurrent players on Steam before this was 36,999,000, achieved in June 2024. This record was part of a series of milestones Steam reached earlier in 2024, including surpassing 36 million concurrent players in March.

A major factor in this surge is the release of Black Myth: Wukong, an action RPG developed by Game Science. Drawing inspiration from the classic novel Journey to the West, the game has quickly become a top performer, achieving the status of the most-played single-player game on Steam within a week of its launch.
Black Myth: Wukong has also seen substantial success across all platforms, selling 10 million units and reaching 3 million concurrent players on both Steam and PlayStation.

Beyond Black Myth: Wukong, several other titles have contributed to Steam’s recent growth. Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds continue to draw significant numbers of players, remaining among the top games in terms of concurrent users.
Valve's Continued Expansion
In addition to setting new records, Valve has been expanding its offerings on Steam. Notably, Deadlock has been listed on the platform, though its early access is currently limited to an “invite only” basis.
Valve is also extending SteamOS support to other handheld consoles, a move that could broaden the platform's reach within the gaming market.
