The game will be set in the Avatar Legends universe and bring players into a fresh story featuring an all-new Avatar.
Though still early in development, the game promises to immerse players in a vibrant world where they can master the four elements and engage in dynamic combat.
Set thousands of years in the past, the story will introduce a "never-before-seen Avatar," allowing players to experience the challenges of keeping balance in the world alongside a new cast of companions.
A Fresh Chapter For Avatar Fans
Avatar Studios, initiated by the original show's creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, is behind this new expansion into gaming. Since launching in 2021, their goal has been to continue building the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
"We know loyal fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender have been eager for more stories that bring them into the universe of the show, and through gaming, we're able to expand the world-building and allow fans to experience the new content in a completely immersive way," said Doug Rosen, senior vice president of Games and Emerging Media at Paramount.
Saber Interactive, known for IP-based games like World War Z, will handle the game's development in close collaboration with Avatar Studios.
Josh Austin, head of IP Development & Licensing at Saber, said: "At Saber, we are all truly fans of the IP we work with. Our team members are some of the most devoted, passionate creatives out there, and it's an honor to join forces with Avatar Studios and Paramount Games to further expand the Avatar Legends universe in video games."
A History Of Avatar Video Games
This is the latest in a line of video game adaptations for Avatar: The Last Airbender, starting with a companion game released in 2006. While previous titles spanned various genres and platforms, this new RPG is shaping up to be the most ambitious to date. A competitive multiplayer game from Maximum Entertainment is also in the works.
