Although Tesla Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk is the richest person in the world, he may not be as smart as some of his billionaire peers, according to new data used to assess general intelligence.
What To Know: According to a report from The Street citing online tutoring firm Preply, Musk scored below both Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos and Meta Platforms Inc META CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a speech analysis study.
The study assesses different aspects of speech to make a determination about someone's intelligence. It incorporates several different factors and then generates a score for each individual analyzed.
Categories include vocabulary breadth, which measures the diversity of word choice; sophistication based on word complexity; textural readability, which assesses sentence intricacy and idea depth; critical thinking as it relates to argument formation and analysis; and contextual relevance, which measures one's ability to connect dialogue to broader ideas.
Based on the different data groups, Musk scored a 64 in Preply's language analysis study, ranking below both Bezos at 71 and Zuckerberg at 69.67. The highest score of all those analyzed was DeepMind's Demis Hassabis with 87.33. Legendary investor Warren Buffett was ranked third with a score of 74.
It's no secret Musk is ahead of everyone on the billionaire's list. According to Forbes, the Tesla CEO has a net worth of approximately $231.9 billion at the time of writing, even as Tesla shares are down nearly 10% on the day. Bezos is ranked third with a net worth of approximately $152.1 billion and Zuckerberg sits in seventh at $112.6 billion.
