Mark Cuban Rants About Vivek Ramaswamy On X, Calls Him 'Donald Trump With A Vocabulary'

Zinger Key Points
  • Vivek Ramasway has seen gains in election polls and improved betting odds ahead of the 2024 election.
  • Entrepreneur Mark Cuban shares similarities Ramaswamy has with Donald Trump.

Entrepreneur and NBA team owner Mark Cuban is no stranger to calling people out on social media or sharing political takes. Cuban’s latest X take was on 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who has been rising in election polls.

What Happened: Biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has been gaining in election polls and seen improved betting odds for the 2024 presidential election.

Among several analysts, Ramaswamy was also seen as a winner of the first Republican primary debate, which aired on Fox News, a unit of Fox Corporation, and was livestreamed on Rumble Inc Wednesday night.

As Ramaswamy surges in popularity as a challenger to Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, Cuban chose to point out similarities between the two.

In an exchange on X with journalist Kara Swisher, Cuban said that Ramaswamy is following a playbook made by Trump.

“I thought the guy was fascinating. (Steve) Jobs said, ‘everything is a remix.’ This guy is trying to Remix Trump,” Cuban posted.

Cuban went on to say that Ramaswamy may have studied Trump and is a newer version of the former president.

“The issue will be whether or not he has any self-awareness. That is Trump’s Super Power. He will repeat lies, get caught on them, deny he lied and then repeat the lie immediately,” Cuban said, adding that he doesn’t think Ramaswamy has the same set of “skills.”

“He throws out dog whistles, but always gives himself a way to deny them. As if they are a honey-pot for the media to take the bait to challenge him so he can deny the claim and play the victim,” the Dallas Mavericks owner said of Ramaswamy, while citing the presidential candidate's references to 9/11 and climate change.

“He talked about 9/11 as a dog whistle to those conspiracy fans, but when asked if he thinks it’s an outside job, he says of course not. He thinks the government withheld info…He talks about climate change saying the ‘climate change agenda is a hoax,’ he never says he denies climate change,” Cuban explained.

“Vivek Ramaswamy is Donald Trump with a vocabulary. Like Trump I don’t know if we will know what he actually believes, if anything.”

Why It’s Important: Ramaswamy praised Trump during the first Republican debate, calling him the “best president” of the 21st century. The biotech entrepreneur has often praised Trump and is among the candidates who have distanced themselves from criticizing the former president directly.

Trump also previously commended Ramaswamy, naming the biotech entrepreneur as the winner of the first Republican debate.

In a February interview, Cuban told Bill Maher that Trump had a lasting negative impact on politics.

“I think Trump has been political chemotherapy,” Cuban told Maher.

“My kids, when they’re 60 years old, [will] hopefully say, 'Look, we went through, the country went through the s*** when I was a kid, but we learned from it.' I think we’re starting to learn from what happened. You’re seeing them throw him under the bus.”
