Kamala Harris Sends Iran A Single-Word Warning On Entering Israel-Hamas Conflict

Zinger Key Points
  • Vice President Kamala Harris was featured in a recent episode of "60 Minutes."
  • Among the many topics discussed were Harris' stance on the Middle East conflict and support for Ukraine.

The Middle East conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group has attracted wide opinions around the world, with many Americans disagreeing with the way President Joe Biden is handling the situation.

Vice President Kamala Harris shared her thoughts on the conflict and the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia in a recent interview.

What Happened: Much like Biden in an interview before her on the same news program, Harris said there is no intention to send U.S. ground troops to Israel or Gaza.

"We have absolutely no intention nor do we have any plans to send combat troops into Israel or Gaza, period," Harris said on the Oct. 29 episode of "60 Minutes."

In the episode broadcast on CBS, owned by Paramount Global PARAPARAA, Harris stated that the U.S. is offering diplomatic support, advice, and equipment to Israel, rather than dictating its actions in the conflict.

"A terrorist organization, Hamas, slaughtered hundreds of young people at a concert. By most estimates at least fourteen hundred Israelis are dead. Israel, without any question, has a right to defend itself."

Harris said it's important to provide safety and security for the Palestinians and separate them from Hamas.

"We have been very clear that the rules of war must be adhered to and that there be humanitarian aid that flows."

Harris said it has been difficult to keep the conflict from escalating with Hezbollah and the Houthis, two additional military groups, launching missiles and attacks against Israel.

The vice president said the message to Iran when it comes to getting involved in the conflict is, "Don't."

"One word. Pretty straightforward."

The U.S. has launched airstrikes against Iranian weapons facilities in Syria and also sent aircraft carriers to the region.

Harris said she meets with Biden multiple times a day when they aren't traveling, and she takes the role of being trusted by the president on important decisions "quite seriously."

Why It's Important: Harris and Biden are in agreement on the U.S. standing with Israel and Ukraine.

"We are as committed to Ukraine as we've always been to authorize additional aid to defend itself against Russia's unprovoked aggression. That is not gonna waver," Harris said.

Harris also echoed what Biden recently said, with comments that the Middle East conflict does not change being able to support Ukraine against Russia.

"It does not put them on a back burner at all," she added.
