Google AI Search Tells Woman To Use Glue On Pizza To Keep Cheese In Place, And She Did: Here's What Happened Next

Google recently introduced its AI-powered search feature, sparking user curiosity with some bizarre search results. The most peculiar response came when a user on X asked about preventing cheese from sticking to pizza. Google’s AI suggested adding glue to the pizza sauce.

What Happened: Motivated by the odd recommendation, the user decided to experiment with making a “Google glue pizza” — an experiment you’re not recommended to try and replicate at home.

Confirming the safety of “nontoxic” glue for consumption, Google’s AI stated it might upset the stomach but wouldn’t be fatal. With this reassurance, the user collected ingredients from a local store: shredded cheese, marinara sauce, pizza dough, and nontoxic school glue.

Google suggested mixing 1/8 cup of glue with the sauce, which I estimated needed about 1/2 cup. The resulting orange mixture resembled vodka sauce and maintained a consistent texture.

After baking at 450 degrees for 12 minutes, the pizza was slightly burned. Opening the oven, the user was wary of potentially toxic fumes. Fortunately, there were no immediate dangers.

The taste test revealed a mediocre pizza, though the glue did effectively prevent the cheese from sliding.

Why it matters: The experiment highlighted a major flaw with Google’s AI search: while the bizarre answers are rare and often involve uncommon queries, they can foster severe mistrust among users.

A Google spokesperson speaking to Business Insider assured that these anomalies were not reflective of typical user experiences, emphasizing the reliability of AI-generated content which usually links to detailed information online. Nonetheless, the incident could have a negative bearing on public trust in the accuracy of results generated through AI and the ethical considerations of their deployment.

It is worth noting that the pizza glue idea stemmed from an 11-year-old Reddit joke, highlighting a flaw in Google’s AI: its failure to identify humor.
