Joe Rogan And Duncan Trussell Don Tesla Optimus Robot Costumes In Latest Show To Deliver 'A Message To AI:' Here's Why

Joe Rogan and Duncan Trussell wore Tesla Optimus outfits and donned them throughout the entirety of a podcast episode to satirically highlight the increasingly scary mix of AI and robotics.

What Happened: In a fresh episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” host Rogan and repeat guest Trussell suited up as Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, to critique the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and robotics. The duo's costume choice mirrored their mixed feelings about futuristic technology’s role in society.

Rogan opened the podcast with a tongue-in-cheek nod to AI, stating, “I think it’s important to send a message to AI that we’re willing to comply.” Trussell satirically elaborated on the inevitability of AI integration, suggesting that resisting such evolution might be as futile as avoiding gambling in Vegas.

The conversation dug a bit deeper when Rogan reflected on being part of the last generation to experience a pre-digital era, reminiscing about the days of leaded gasoline and phones tethered to walls. “We are super lucky to be the last people [before AI takes over],” Rogan mused.

A quick rewind: Rogan’s fascination with the humanoid robot was evident earlier this year when he reacted to Tesla's presentation of the Optimus Gen 2 robot. Owning a Tesla Model S himself and having interviewed Elon Musk, Rogan was both awestruck and alarmed upon seeing Optimus’s capabilities, which include walking, squatting, and delicately manipulating objects like an egg.

“God damn it Elon, what are you doing?” Rogan exclaimed during a podcast episode in late February, half-jokingly predicting a dystopian future where fleets of such robots could emerge from aircraft carriers armed with machine guns.
