On Monday, Meta Platforms, Inc.'s META CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that Instagram's Threads has reached a milestone of 100 million daily active users.
What Happened: Taking to Threads, Zuckerberg said that Meta's Twitter rival now boasts 300 million monthly active users, an increase from 275 million in November.
This marks the first time the company has disclosed its daily active user count.

Meta has been actively sharing statistics and introducing new features to attract more users. This includes custom feeds, starter packs for new users, and options to change default feeds.
Last month, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri highlighted that Threads has consistently seen a million sign-ups daily for three months.

Why It Matters: The surge in Threads’ user base is part of a broader trend of users leaving Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) for alternative platforms.
Rival social media network to both X and Threads, Bluesky is also gaining from the user shift away from X. It now has over 25 million users as of Dec. 10 with popular names like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Mark Cuban, and Mark Hamill ranked as one of the most popular Bluesky accounts.
This shift has been particularly pronounced following Donald Trump's victory, which led to a significant increase in activity on platforms like Bluesky and Threads. Users have expressed dissatisfaction with the atmosphere on X, prompting them to explore other options.
