Katy Perry, Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez Headline Next Blue Origin Space Flight: How Jeff Bezos Fiancée, Crew Will Make History

A crew of six women will be on the next spaceflight from Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin, including his fiancée Lauren Sánchez, who previously announced plans to go to space.

What Happened: Blue Origin, which sent more than 50 people to space, including celebrities such as William Shatner, is set to send an all-woman crew to space in the spring of 2025.

The NS-31 mission will be the 31^st for Blue Origin as part of the New Shepard program and mark the 11^th human spaceflight.

Participating in the upcoming space flight are:

Perry said she is honored to be a part of Blue Origin's first all-woman crew and hopes her journey provides encouragement to her daughter and others to "reach for the stars, literally and figuratively."

Bezos sending his fiancée to space will attract plenty of headlines and shows how confident the billionaire is in his space flights and their safety.

King is one of the best-known journalists and her role on "CBS Mornings" could lead to the Paramount Global PARAPARAA show filming and covering the space flight. Flynn on the flight could also lead to a future documentary or film coverage of space flights.

Blue Origin said this is the first all-woman flight crew in company history and the first for the space industry since Russian Valentina Tereshkova's solo spaceflight in 1963.

Rival space flight company Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc SPCE took billionaire and company founder Richard Branson to space in 2021, beating Blue Origin and continuing a rivalry between the two companies.

Virgin Galactic has not flown a civilian crew to space since June 2024 and is currently waiting for its next spacecraft, which could begin taking civilians to space again in 2026. The company had celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie and Elon Musk on the waitlist for space flights.

The all-woman flight and celebrities on board could provide a boost to Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin's waitlists where people have been willing to book a reservation and a future six-figure ticket price to head into space.
