What's A Challenger?: The Challenger Award is reserved for innovators and upstarts disrupting the industry of sports betting. A jury evaluated key criteria including innovation, execution, financial performance and compliance.
The Decision: Stake, a global online casino with a sister entity available in the U.S., offers sports betting and traditional casino games with live dealers.
U.S. users do not deal with traditional currencies on the Stake website. Instead, they deposit and withdraw cryptocurrencies to and from their betting accounts.
Account balances can be withdrawn in the equivalent value of cryptocurrency and then deposited back into the user’s personal cryptocurrency wallet.
The Curaçao-based company has multiple sponsorship deals, including with UFC fighter Israel Adesanya, Argentine footballer Sergio Agüero, superstar rapper Drake and more.
