EXCLUSIVE: Gary Vee Predicts NY Jets' Playoff Return In 2023, 'I Know My Team' - Betting Odds Revealed

Zinger Key Points
  • The New York Jets enter the 2023 with high hopes after landing Aaron Rodgers as their new quarterback.
  • Jets superfan Gary Vee predicts the New York Jets record for the 2023 season.

Serial entrepreneur Gary Vee is known for many things and has investments in sports like pickleball, BIG3 basketball and Slamball. Vee's fans are well aware that his deepest sports love is for the New York Jets, a team he hopes to buy one day.

In a conversation with Benzinga, Vee gave his predictions for the New York Jets' 2023 NFL season outcome.

What Happened: The New York Jets come into the 2023 NFL season with high expectations, helped by the offseason trade that landed the team star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers is a previous Super Bowl champion and has won four NFL MVP awards. In the 2022 season with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers threw for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdown passes. He's surpassed 4,000 passing yards in six of his past nine seasons, and did so in 9 of the 11 seasons where he played at least 16 games.

The inclusion of Rodgers has fans like Vee hopeful for the 2023 NFL season as the Jets look to end a playoff drought.

“I know my team, we’re gonna be 11-6,” Vee told Benzinga.

Vee believes the playoff drought of the Jets, which dates back to 2010, will come to an end.

“We’re gonna finally get back to the playoffs. The New York Jets are currently the North American franchise that has not been in the playoffs the longest. Every team in hockey, baseball, basketball and football has been to the playoffs more recently than the New York Jets.”

Concluding his thoughts on the Jets' playoff drought, Vee told Benzinga, “That ends this year.”

The New York Jets went 7-10 in the 2022 season, missing out on the NFL Playoffs. The team started the season 6-3 before going on to finish the season 1-7 in the eight games after their bye week.

Vee predicted an 8-9 record for the Jets at the start of the 2022 season to Benzinga, but they missed the mark by a single game.

The Jets last made a Playoffs appearance in 2010, recording an 11-5 season. Over the last ten seasons, the Jets have only one winning season and one 8-8 season. The team missed out on the playoffs in 2015 despite a 10-6 record.

The heightened expectations and Rodgers' addition have also amplified the team's media visibility. The Jets were the featured team in the NFL preseason docuseries “Hard Knocks,” which airs on Warner Bros. Discovery’s WBD HBO and Max streaming platform.

The Jets will also be featured in six primetime television matchups during the 2023 NFL season, which are:

  • Week 1: Jets vs. Bills, Sunday Night Football on NBC, a unit of Comcast Corporation CMCSA
  • Week 4: Jets vs. Chiefs, Sunday Night Football on NBC
  • Week 9: Jets vs. Chargers, Monday Night Football on ESPN, a unit of The Walt Disney Company DIS
  • Week 10: Jets vs. Raiders, Sunday Night Football on NBC
  • Week 12: Jets vs. Dolphins, Black Friday game on Amazon.com Inc AMZN owned Prime Video
  • Week 17: Jets vs. Browns, Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video
