The 2024 National Football League regular season has come to its conclusion with 14 teams making the NFL Playoffs to compete for the chance to play in Super Bowl LIX, including the back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
What Happened: The 2024 NFL season started in Detroit when the 2024 NFL Draft set attendance records in April.
Detroit Lions fans hope that a portion of the NFL Playoffs runs through their city with the Lions winning the top seed and home-field advantage in the NFC.
The Chiefs won the top seed in the AFC and will have home-field advantage in their quest for a record-setting third straight Super Bowl.
The winners of the AFC and NFC Conference Championship games will face off in New Orleans in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.
Here's a look at the current AFC and NFC Playoff seeds and 2024 records:
AFC
- Kansas City Chiefs, 15-2
- Buffalo Bills, 13-4
- Baltimore Ravens, 12-3
- Houston Texans, 10-7
- Los Angels Chargers, 11-6
- Pittsburgh Steelers, 10-7
- Denver Broncos, 10-7
NFC
- Detroit Lions, 15-2
- Philadelphia Eagles, 14-3
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 10-7
- Los Angeles Rams, 10-7
- Minnesota Vikings, 14-3
- Washington Commanders, 12-5
- Green Bay Packers, 11-6
For the NFL Playoffs, the winners of each division gets a top-four seed with the next three teams with the best records getting wild card spots. The division winners get home-field in the first round. The top seed overall in each conference gets a bye in the first week and home field as long as they keep winning.
The NFL reseeds after each round meaning the number one seeds will play the worst team by seed that advances to the second round.

Super Bowl Betting Odds, Records to Watch: Here are the current betting odds for the Super Bowl LIX winner and where the odds stood back in February when Benzinga shared the top 12 betting favorites to start the season.
- Lions: +280 (+1,200)
- Chiefs: +350 (+650)
- Ravens: +600 (+900)
- Bills: +650 (+1,000)
- Eagles: +700 (+2,000)
- Vikings: +1,600 (Not in Top 12)
- Packers: +2,000 (+2,000)
- Buccaneers: +2,500 (Not in Top 12)
- Chargers: +2,800 (+2,500)
- Commanders: +4,500 (Not in Top 12)
- Rams: +4,500 (Not in Top 12)
- Broncos: +5,500 (Not in Top 12)
- Texans: +8,000 (+2,200)
- Steelers: +9,000 (Not in Top 12)
The San Francisco 49ers were the betting favorite at +550 back in February followed closely by the Chiefs. Now the Lions and Chiefs stand ahead of the other teams for odds thanks to their top seeding and home field advantages.
A win by the Chiefs would make them the first team to win three straight Super Bowls. In fact, no NFL team has ever won two Super Bowls and then appeared in a Super Bowl the next season.
For the Lions, the team will be seeking their first ever Super Bowl appearance. The Lions are one of four teams who have never been to a Super Bowl, a feat that the Texans could also cross off their list if they make the big game.
The Bills and Vikings could also get over the unfortunate record of going 0-4 in Super Bowls and not having a win. The Chargers have also never won a Super Bowl, losing their only appearance in the 1994 NFL season.
Another Super Bowl first to watch could be rookie quarterbacks. The 2024 NFL Draft saw six quarterbacks taken in the first round, tying an NFL record. Among them, Jayden Daniels (#2 overall, Commanders) and Bo Nix (#12 overall, Broncos) will be attempting to be the first rookie starting quarterbacks to appear in a Super Bowl.
