2025 NFL Draft Order: There have been no trades made in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft as of the time of writing, which could set records. No draft in the modern era, dating back to 1967, has begun with every team having their first round pick.
Last year's draft had several trades done before the first round began and a total of five more trades were made involving first-round picks during the first round.
Many experts expect trades to come, the question is if they will happen before the draft begins at 8 p.m. ET or once the first round begins. The Browns (#2) and Giants (#3) have indicated this week that they are open to trading their top picks if the price is right.

Betting Trends to Know: The 2025 NFL Draft is expected to be a big event for sports betting companies like DraftKings Inc DKNG, Flutter Entertainment FLUT and MGM Resorts International MGM.
Betting platforms offer bets on each draft pick number, over/unders on when a player will be taken, props on the number of a position taken in the first round and some head-to-head battles.
Here are the current betting favorites at the top 10 positions based on odds from BetMGM, as shared by Ben Fawkes on X.
- Cam Ward (QB): -10,000
- Travis Hunter (WR/CB): -2,500
- Abdul Carter (Edge): -2,000
- Will Campbell (OT): -800
- Ashton Jeanty (RB): -250
- Kelvin Banks Jr. (OT): +125
- Armand Membou (OT): +225
- Mason Graham (DT): +170
- Mykel Williams (Edge): +200
- Tyler Warren (TE): +325
Based on the betting odds, it doesn't look like there is much uncertainty until it gets to the sixth pick, barring any trades of top five picks.
This draft order and selections would also differ greatly from last year's NFL Draft when offense and quarterbacks were the name of the game in the first round.
Last year set a record with offensive players taken with the first 14 picks and 23 of the 32 first-round picks overall. Last year's first round also tied a record with six quarterbacks taken in the first round, including the top three straight picks for the fourth time in history.
Defensive players are likely to go in the first 10 picks and the quarterback position is not nearly as popular in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In fact, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has fallen back in mock drafts and betting odds after previously being a top-five consensus pick. The over/under moved from 8.5 to 21.5 at some sportsbooks. While many still see Sanders going in the first round, he might have to wait some time to hear his name called.
Ward has odds of -10,000 to go first overall and be the first quarterback off the board. This means betting $100 would turn into a $101 win for a profit of $1.
Other top quarterback prospects are Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe, who like Sanders will be competing to get their name called later in the first round.
BetMGM's John Ewing said these are the most popular bets at BetMGM:
- Cam Ward 1st pick: -10,000
- Tetairoa McMillan 1st WR drafted: -300
- Saints 1st pick is a QB: +425
- Over 2.5 QBs drafted in 1st Round: -165
- Tyler Warren 1st TE drafted: -400
Betting on the rookie of the year will likely be a popular future bet after the 2025 NFL Draft. Last year, Caleb Williams was the early favorite to win offensive rookie of the year after going first overall. It was Jayden Daniels, the second overall pick, who won offensive rookie of the year after starting with odds of +650 at DraftKings.
Similarly, Jared Verse (edge), who ranked fourth at +1,100 odds after the NFL Draft, ended up the defensive rookie of the year for the 2024 NFL season.
