U.S. stocks were lower, with the Dow Jones falling over 600 points on Thursday.
Shares of Sanofi SA (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNY#NASDAQ">SNY</a>) rose sharply during Thursday's session following better-than-expected <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/24/04/38432249/drugmaker-sanofis-strong-dupixent-and-beyfortus-vaccine-sales-propel-q1-earnings">first-quarter earnings</a>.
Sanofi reported first-quarter operating income of 2.8 billion euros, down 14.7% Y/Y and 4.2% on constant currency. The French drugmaker reported adjusted EPS of 97 cents (1.78 euros), beating the consensus estimate of 94 cents, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
Sanofi shares climbed 5.5% to $49.15 on Thursday.
