<p>Looking at long-term stocks also makes it easier to invest. Instead of timing the stock market and looking for opportunities to sell your shares at high prices, investors can take a more passive role if they focus on the fundamentals.</p>



<p>A passive approach can go wrong if companies become overstretched, lose their catalysts, and endure sharp corrections. Many <a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-types/growth-stocks/">growth stocks</a> that looked like guaranteed winners during the pandemic collapsed a few years later. That&rsquo;s why investors should also assess each stock&rsquo;s valuation and look for companies that offer good margins of safety.&nbsp;</p>

More than <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/credit-card-rewards-gen-z-american-express-ed257f70#">75% of new Gold and Platinum accounts</a> came from Millennials and Gen Z consumers. That trend carried over into the first quarter of 2024. During that quarter, American Express delivered <a href="https://s26.q4cdn.com/747928648/files/doc_financials/2024/q1/Q1-2024-Earnings-Press-Release.pdf">11% year-over-year revenue growth</a> while net income jumped by 34% year-over-year. The company closed out the quarter with a 16.9% net profit margin.</p>



<p>Investors enjoyed those results and continued to buy shares. American Express stock is now up by 25% year-to-date and has gained 83% over the past five years. The stock trades at a 19x P/E ratio which is lower than most credit and debit card stocks.&nbsp;</p>



<p>To top it all off, American Express is also a dividend growth stock with a 1.19% yield. The company has maintained a double-digit dividend growth rate for several years. American Express <a href="https://ir.americanexpress.com/news/investor-relations-news/investor-relations-news-details/2024/American-Express-Board-Authorizes-17-Percent-Dividend-Increase/default.aspx">hiked its dividend by 17% earlier this year</a>. The stock has a higher yield than its competitors.</p>



<h2>Texas Roadhouse (TXRH)</h2>

While American Express has achieved returns similar to the <strong>S&amp;P 500</strong> over the pst five years, Texas Roadhouse has left the index in the dust. TXRH shares have recorded a 5-year gain of 220% and they are also up by 44% year-to-date.</p>



<p>The steakhouse chain has a 35x P/E ratio and a 1.42% yield. Texas Roadhouse has maintained a double-digit dividend growth rate for several years, including <a href="https://dividendhistory.org/payout/TXRH/">an 11% dividend hike</a> earlier this year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Recent financial results suggest that Texas Roadhouse will continue the momentum. The restaurant chain reported 12.5% year-over-year revenue growth in the <a href="https://s22.q4cdn.com/200744459/files/doc_financials/2024/TXRH-2024-Q1-Earnings-Release-Draft-5-2-2024.pdf">first quarter</a> while net income was up by 31.9% year-over-year. Comparable sales increased by 8.4% year-over-year, demonstrating that the restaurant has traction with its 753 locations. While other <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/consumer-discretionary/retail/restaurant/">restaurant stocks</a> with double-digit revenue growth rates have reached astronomical valuations, Texas Roadhouse still has a reasonable valuation.</p>



<h2>CommVault Systems (CVLT)</h2>

Cybersecurity is a booming industry that is projected to maintain a <a href="https://www.polarismarketresearch.com/industry-analysis/cyber-security-market#:~:text=The%20global%20cyber%20security%20market,9.7%25%20during%20the%20forecast%20period.">compounded annual growth rate of 9.7%</a> from now until 2030. CommVault Systems&rsquo; growing annual recurring revenue model suggests that it&rsquo;s primed to expand as the pie gets bigger.</p>



<p>The cloud security firm reported 10% year-over-year revenue growth in the <a href="https://ir.commvault.com/news-releases/news-release-details/commvault-announces-fiscal-2024-fourth-quarter-financial-results">fourth quarter of fiscal 2024</a>. Subscription revenue was up by 27% year-over-year and made up more than half of the company&rsquo;s Q4 FY24 revenue. CommVault Systems even initiated a $50.4 million stock buyback due to a tax windfall.</p>



<p>Revenue is accelerating. Total revenue for the entire fiscal year was up by 7% year-over-year compared to the 10% growth rate in Q4 FY24. Furthermore, annual recurring revenue reached $770 million. That includes $597 million in subscription annual recurring revenue, which increased by 25% year-over-year. The cloud security company is profitable and has gained 59% year-to-date. Shares are also up by 142% over the past five years.</p>

For instance, investors will have the most exposure to the largest publicly traded corporation and the least exposure to the 500th largest company on the list.</p>



<p>This index routinely adds and removes stocks based on financial performance and other factors. Furthermore, it&rsquo;s not easy to get into the S&amp;P 500. A company must fulfill several requirements, such as having a sufficient market cap and reporting a profitable year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Although many investors use index investing to match the market, it&rsquo;s possible to outperform the S&amp;P 500. These <a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-types/growth-stocks/">growth stocks</a> have lived up to the premise and have outpaced the S&amp;P 500 so far. <h2>Walmart (WMT)</h2>

The company can deliver solid earnings during the good times and remain resilient during economic downturns. Walmart has delivered a 30% year-to-date gain, which outpaces the S&amp;P 500&rsquo;s 18% year-to-date gain.</p>



<p>Walmart also offers a 1.20% yield for its investors. While dividend growth has been an issue in previous years, the company recently <a href="https://corporate.walmart.com/news/2024/02/20/walmart-raises-annual-dividend-9-percent-to-83-per-share-the-largest-increase-in-over-10-years-marking-51st-consecutive-year-of-dividend-increases">announced a 9% dividend hike</a> &mdash; the highest dividend increase in more than a decade.</p>



<p><a href="https://s201.q4cdn.com/262069030/files/doc_financials/2025/q1/Earnings-Release-FY25-Q1-5-16-24.pdf">Q1 FY25 financial results</a> suggest that Walmart can continue the rally. Revenue increased by 6.0% year-over-year in that quarter, while adjusted EPS was up by 22.4% year-over-year. Global e-commerce sales were a major highlight, increasing by 21% year-over-year. Store-fulfilled pickups and deliveries continue to pick up momentum. Investors should also monitor the small but growing advertising segment, which reported 24% year-over-year revenue growth.</p>



<h2>Amazon (AMZN)</h2>

These stocks have carried the index to new heights for several years and heavily influence the <strong>Nasdaq Composite</strong>.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Amazon</strong> (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/amzn-stock-quote/"><strong>AMZN</strong></a>) is one of the Magnificent Seven stocks, delivering a 30% year-to-date return. Online marketplace sales continue to grow and achieve double-digit revenue growth in domestic and international markets. That wasn&rsquo;t the only highlight from <a href="https://ir.aboutamazon.com/news-release/news-release-details/2024/Amazon.com-Announces-First-Quarter-Results-68b9258cd/">Q1 2024 results</a>. While overall revenue increased by 13% year-over-year, the company also reported 17% revenue growth for Amazon Web Services. That part of Amazon&rsquo;s business generated $25.0 billion in the quarter.</p>



<p>While e-commerce and cloud computing are Amazon&rsquo;s core specialties, the company is making strides in the advertising market. The tech giant reported $11.8 billion in ad revenue this quarter, a 24% year-over-year increase. Amazon thrives in multiple industries, which should lead to long-term gains for patient investors.</p>



<h2>Nu Holdings (NU)</h2>

Shares have logged a 65% year-to-date return. It helps that the company recently <a href="https://international.nubank.com.br/100m/nubank-surpasses-100-million-customers/#:~:text=Nu%20is%20the%20world's%20largest,develop%20innovative%20products%20and%20services.">surpassed 100 million users</a>, most of whom are active.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The digital bank reported an <a href="https://api.mziq.com/mzfilemanager/v2/d/59a081d2-0d63-4bb5-b786-4c07ae26bc74/1f5e7fd7-336d-470c-6ff8-7b05661006e4?origin=1">83% activity rate</a> at the end of the first quarter. This rate demonstrates that 83% of the company&rsquo;s 100 million customers are active monthly. The bank has more than 83 million monthly active users, and they use multiple financial products. Nu Holdings reported 69% year-over-year revenue growth as customers used the bank&rsquo;s personal loans, credit cards, bank accounts, brokerage accounts and other resources.</p>



<p>Wall Street analysts still believe that the stock can rise. Seven analysts rate it a Strong Buy, with a projected 5% upside from current levels. The highest price target of $15.20 per share suggests the stock can gain an additional 13%.</p>



<h2>Chipotle (CMG)</h2>

It has almost quadrupled over the past five years and is up 28% year-to-date. The Mexican Grill chain recently completed a 50-for-1 stock split and has been under a correction ever since. This correction presents an opportunity for long-term investors.</p>



<p>The company continues to grow at a robust pace. Revenue increased by 14.1% year-over-year to reach $2.7 billion in the <a href="https://ir.chipotle.com/2024-04-24-CHIPOTLE-ANNOUNCES-FIRST-QUARTER-2024-RESULTS">first quarter</a>, and net income rose by 23.2% year-over-year to reach $259.3 million. Chipotle opened 47 new restaurants this quarter and remains on pace to open 285-315 restaurants throughout the year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Restaurant expansion isn&rsquo;t the only reason Chipotle&rsquo;s revenue is still rising. The company reported 7.0% year-over-year growth in comparable restaurant sales. Wall Street analysts are on board and have rated the stock as a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/cmg/forecast">Moderate Buy</a>. The average price target suggests a 16% upside, while the highest price target of $80 per share indicates that a 38% gain is possible.</p>



<h2>Meta Platforms (META)</h2>

Facebook&rsquo;s parent company has logged a 44% year-to-date gain and comes with a 0.40% yield. The stock trades at a 29 P/E ratio and trades at a $1.26 trillion valuation.</p>



<p>The social media giant closed out the first quarter with <a href="https://s21.q4cdn.com/399680738/files/doc_news/Meta-Reports-First-Quarter-2024-Results-2024.pdf">3.24 billion daily active users</a>, 7% higher than the same time last year. Meta Platforms&rsquo; large user base allows it to experiment with new products and AI offerings. As it works on new initiatives, the company performs well with its current business model. Revenue increased by 27% year over year, while net income surged by 117% year over year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Meta Platforms remain a big hit on Wall Street. The stock is rated a Strong Buy with a projected 6% upside from current levels. The highest price target of $625 per share suggests the company can rally by an additional 25%.</p>



<h2>Texas Roadhouse (TXRH)</h2>

The stock trades at a 34 P/E ratio and offers a 1.44% yield. Shares are up by 42% year-to-date and have more than tripled over the past five years.</p>



<p>The steakhouse chain reported 12.5% year-over-year revenue growth in the <a href="https://s22.q4cdn.com/200744459/files/doc_financials/2024/TXRH-2024-Q1-Earnings-Release-Draft-5-2-2024.pdf">first quarter</a>. Net income jumped by 31.9% year-over-year, which should help the company maintain a double-digit dividend growth rate. Texas Roadhouse opened 12 restaurants in the quarter, including three franchises. The steakhouse chain&rsquo;s comparable sales increased by 8.4% year-over-year at company-owned restaurants. The growth rate came in at 7.7% for franchise restaurants. Both growth rates are respectable and demonstrate that Texas Roadhouse is becoming a fixture in numerous communities.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Wall Street analysts have rated the stock as a Moderate Buy. The average price target only implies a 3% upside, but the highest price target of $191 per share suggests a potential 13% gain.</p>



<h2>Crowdstrike (CRWD)</h2>

The cybersecurity firm is a recent addition to the S&amp;P 500, delivering a 50% year-to-date gain. Shares are up by more than 400% over the past five years.</p>



<p>The company operates in an industry projected to grow for many years. Cybersecurity is projected to maintain a compounded annual growth rate of 13.8% until 2030. Many companies will benefit from the industry&rsquo;s success, but few are as well-positioned as Crowdstrike.</p>



<p>While other cybersecurity companies have reported decelerating revenue growth, Crowdstrike continues to charge ahead. The company reported 33% year-over-year revenue growth in the <a href="https://ir.crowdstrike.com/news-releases/news-release-details/crowdstrike-reports-first-quarter-fiscal-year-2025-financial">first quarter of fiscal 2025</a>. Crowdstrike operates on a subscription business model and currently has $3.65 billion in annual recurring revenue. Profits are also surging, going from $0.5 million in the same quarter last year to $42.8 million in this quarter.</p>

Brands </strong>(NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/yum-stock-quote/"><strong>YUM</strong></a></span>) is a conglomerate specializing in quick-service restaurants. Its subsidiaries include <strong>KFC</strong>, <strong>Taco Bell</strong>, and <strong>Pizza Hut</strong>, among other companies. This diversified portfolio has led YUM to gain a great foothold in the restaurant sector. It also has multiple international segments, which contribute heavily to its growth.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Earnings-per-share (<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/eps-stock-quote/"><strong>EPS</strong></a>) predictions are trending downward, with analysts predicting an EPS of 5.67 until the end of the year, <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/YUM/analysis/">down from the 5.79</a> predicted 90 days ago. This is in line with growth predictions, which suggest a downtrend this year and a rebound next year. Analysts are predicting an annual growth rate of 11.10% over the next five years at the moment. It&rsquo;s reported that the company has a growth potential of around 14%, which further solidifies its &ldquo;buy&rdquo; rating.</p>



<p>While having it may have missed earnings estimates in Q1 2024, YUM has some great fundamentals. The fragmentation of its subsidiaries across various countries has led the company to see impressive growth in certain regions. This is especially true with KFC in the Latin America/India regions, which posted <a href="https://s2.q4cdn.com/890585342/files/doc_financials/2024/q1/Yum-Brands-Q1-24-Earnings-Release-5-1-24.pdf">growth of 22% and 12%</a> respectively in Q1. YUM is also expanding rapidly, with the addition of 808 new units globally, further adding to potential revenue. Thus, YUM is a restaurant stock to buy.</p>



<h2><strong>Texas Roadhouse</strong> (TXRH)</h2>

It falls in the &ldquo;casual-dining&rdquo; space, with stores in the U.S. and internationally. While this isn&rsquo;t a big international chain restaurant, TXRH remains one of the favorite restaurant stocks to buy now for analysts, with a proposed growth potential of 2.77% for this year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>TXRH&rsquo;s financials look amazing; profit margins, return on assets and equity, operating margins etc. are all above sector averages. TXRH saw <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/TXRH/key-statistics/">quarterly revenue growth of 12.50%</a> as of Q1 2024. This corresponded with a quarterly earnings growth of 31%. Such discrepancies are normal and are likely due to the fact that as revenue grows, the costs related to obtaining that revenue generally go down.</p>



<p>There are notable risks to TXRH. High beef prices will strike this chain hard due to its steak-centric menu. However, this could be a double-edged sword. Being a mid-priced steakhouse, it is poised to poach consumers who would likely go to fancier restaurants but were priced out. This is already starting to take place, with popular <strong>Reddit</strong> (NYSE:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/rddt-stock-quote/"><strong>RDDT</strong></a></span>) <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/24/business/consumers-are-pulling-back-but-theyre-still-going-out-for-steak/index.html">posts talking about TXRH&rsquo;s great value</a> popping up. Additionally, several investment advisory firms, as well as multiple banks rate TXRH a &ldquo;buy&rdquo; stock, making a stronger case for it.</p>



<h2><strong>The Cheesecake Factory (CAKE)</strong></h2>

The company also has several subsidiaries, including <strong>Flower Child</strong> and <strong>North Italia</strong>. This company is a great value and long-term pick.</p>



<p>While CAKE doesn&rsquo;t have current growth catalysts, the company&rsquo;s financials makes it clear why CAKE is a buy. While a <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/CAKE/key-statistics/">profit margin of 3.07%</a> is within the sector average, a return on equity of 33.69% is unprecedented. This is important for investors, as the return on equity is a measure of not only the company&rsquo;s profitability, but also its efficiency in growing shareholder value.&nbsp;</p>



<p>CAKE saw YOY revenue growth of 2.9% last quarter, with earnings going up 18.3%. This exceeded <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/CAKE/analysis/">analyst expectations by 7.3%</a>, which is a significant jump. This trend appears to be long-term, however. Analysts have raised EPS predictions for both 2024 and 2025, predicting growth at 15.25% annually over the next five years. Should CAKE meet this, its stock will soar&ndash; taking your investment with it. This all makes CAKE one of the restaurant stocks to buy now.</p>

<p>Dividend aristocrats attract many income investors who want to receive steady cash flow from their investments. High yields and consistent dividend hikes allow investors to cash in on their investments without selling shares. Some people build up large enough dividend portfolios to the point where dividends cover their living expenses.</p>



<p>While it&rsquo;s possible to generate high yields with current dividend aristocrats, investors may realize higher long-term returns by prioritizing future dividend aristocrats. Before we identify future dividend aristocrats, it&rsquo;s important to determine what qualifies as a dividend aristocrat. These aristocrats are publicly traded corporations that have raised their dividends for at least 25 consecutive years.&nbsp;</p>



<p>If a company halts or reduces its quarterly dividend payouts, it&rsquo;s no longer a dividend aristocrat. Furthermore, a company that doesn&rsquo;t raise its dividend over the past year loses its status. These three corporations look likely to becoming future dividend aristocrats and can reward long-term investors with capital gains and cash flow.</p>



<h2>Meta Platforms (META)</h2>

The company issued its first dividend in Q4 2023, so it&rsquo;s going to take multiple decades for the company to become a dividend aristocrat. The advertising giant has what it takes to raise its dividend each year for the next 25 years and beyond.&nbsp;</p>



<p><a href="https://s21.q4cdn.com/399680738/files/doc_news/Meta-Reports-First-Quarter-2024-Results-2024.pdf">More than 3.24 billion people</a> use Meta Platforms. That type of attention will give the company a massive head start with any new product launches and offerings. The company&rsquo;s also doing fine with profitability, as net income surged by 117% year-over-year in the first quarter to reach $12.4 billion. While cost-cutting measures helped, the company&rsquo;s 27% YOY revenue growth also contributed to excellent net income growth.</p>



<p>Meta Platforms is in the early innings of its dividend payouts. The company is likely to maintain a double-digit dividend growth rate for several years. Revenue and net income continue to rise as the social media giant continues to establish itself as one of the top choices for online advertising.&nbsp;</p>



<h2>Visa (V)</h2>

The company has a solid business model that revolves around credit and debit card transactions. These plastic cards are more convenient than cash. They are also more secure and allow you to receive cash, points, miles, and other rewards for every purchase.</p>



<p>Visa has raised its dividend for <a href="https://www.fool.com/investing/2024/04/27/is-visa-the-best-dividend-stock-for-you/#:~:text=Visa%20has%20increased%20its%20dividend,bit%20miserly%20at%20just%200.75%25.">16 consecutive years</a>. It&rsquo;s less than a decade removed from officially become a dividend aristocrat. While some companies have decelerating dividend growth rates as they reach aristocrat status, Visa continues to maintain a double-digit growth rate. The fintech firm <a href="https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/visa-raises-dividend-16-strong-101700486.html#:~:text=Credit%20card%20giant%20Visa%20(V,it%20a%20yield%20of%200.9%25.">raised its dividend by 16% last year</a> amid strong financial results.</p>



<p>Strong financial results carried over into fiscal 2024. The firm reported 10% YOY revenue and net income growth in <a href="https://s1.q4cdn.com/050606653/files/doc_financials/2024/q2/Q2-2024-Earnings-Release_vF.pdf">Q2 FY24</a>. Cross-border transactions were a key driver that exhibited 16% YOY growth. Visa regularly reports net profit margins above 50% which will help it reach dividend aristocrat status.</p>



<h2>Texas Roadhouse (TXRH)</h2>

Shares are up by 40% year-to-date and have more than tripled over the past five years. The company operates <a href="https://s22.q4cdn.com/200744459/files/doc_financials/2024/TXRH-2024-Q1-Earnings-Release-Draft-5-2-2024.pdf">753 restaurants</a>. Most of Texas Roadhouse&rsquo;s restaurants are company-owned while some of them are franchises.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Texas Roadhouse has raised its dividend for <a href="https://www.koyfin.com/company/txrh/dividends/#:~:text=a%20quarterly%20basis.-,Texas%20Roadhouse,%20Inc.,consistent%20dividends%20in%20the%20future.">12 consecutive years</a>, so it&rsquo;s almost halfway toward dividend aristocrat status. The steakhouse chain has also maintained a double-digit dividend growth rate during that span. The high growth rate has helped Texas Roadhouse maintain a respectable 1.46% yield despite impressive long-term returns.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Dividend hikes should continue for the company. Revenue increased by 12.5% YOY in the first quarter while net income jumped by 31.9% YOY. Texas Roadhouse closed out the quarter with an 8.6% net profit margin. More restaurant openings should give both of those numbers a boost, but 8.4% YOY comparable sales growth suggests the restaurant is winning over local communities.</p>
