Rick Schafer of Oppenheimer has reiterated his bullish stance on Nvidia ahead of the company&#8217;s third-quarter earnings report scheduled for November 20. Schafer anticipates substantial upside in Nvidia&#8217;s October quarter results and January quarter guidance, driven by consistent demand from cloud service providers (CSPs) and enterprise clients for AI accelerators.

Schafer has revised his estimates upward, citing robust traction for Nvidia&#8217;s Hopper AI accelerators and the initial ramp-up of the new Blackwell chips, which will likely begin in the fourth quarter.
He projects that Blackwell will contribute several billion dollars in revenue for the January quarter despite ongoing supply constraints related to CoWoS-L capacity.
The analyst foresees a significant acceleration in Blackwell sales by the first quarter (April), with investors modeling between 5-6 million GPUs next year.
In 2025, Schafer expects the product mix to favor drop-in HGX modules and air-cooled NVL36 GB200 racks as they integrate more easily into existing data center infrastructures. He stated that liquid cooling challenges may take time to resolve.
Nvidia&#8217;s rack-scale solutions, which include CPUs and networking components, could offer a 10 times increase in average selling prices (ASP) compared to standalone modules.
Schafer sees Nvidia&#8217;s Data Center (DC) segment, which comprises 87% of total revenue, growing 9% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) and 97% year-over-year (YoY) in the third quarter, led by the H200 chip.
The broader Blackwell product line will likely ramp up in the first quarter, with future iterations like the Blackwell Ultra scheduled for late 2025. Schafer estimates that 60% of the data center sales will come from training, while 40% will be from inference.
He forecasts over $10 billion in sales from sovereign AI projects this year, although this may face long-term risks from potential U.S. export restrictions.
For the Networking segment, accounting for 14% of Nvidia&#8217;s data center revenue, Schafer projects a 9% QoQ increase and 60% YoY growth, driven by robust Spectrum-X Ethernet switches and DPUs shipments.
He expects Nvidia&#8217;s next-generation Spectrum-X800 to launch in 2025, catering to large-scale accelerator clusters, followed by the Spectrum-X1600 in 2026.
In the Gaming segment, which makes up 10% of revenue, Schafer anticipates 5% QoQ and 6% YoY growth in the third quarter, fueled by strong sales of discrete PC GPUs.
He highlighted the upcoming launch of Nvidia&#8217;s 50-series Blackwell GPUs in early 2025, alongside a 3nm PC CPU developed in collaboration with MediaTek.
Schafer estimates Nvidia&#8217;s free cash flow (FCF) to be $16.5 billion for the third quarter, with $97 billion projected for the full year 2025. He stated that Nvidia has $57.5 billion remaining on its stock buyback authorization, with cash and debt balances of $34.8 billion and $8.5 billion, respectively.
Based on revised earnings estimates, Schafer raised his calendar year 2024, 2025, and 2026 EPS forecasts to $2.85, $4.16, and $5.04, up from previous estimates of $2.80, $3.77, and $4.51.
He also increased his price target for Nvidia stock, citing improved free cash flow and a stronger balance sheet. Nvidia trades 29 times his calendar year 2026 EPS estimate, below its five-year average of 37 times.
Schafer views Nvidia as a long-term buy, highlighting its leading position in AI hardware and software, strong gross and operating margins, and dominant data center ecosystem as core drivers of sustained growth.
Nvidia stock surged 205% year-to-date as U.S. Big Techs splurged on their AI ambitions. Investors can gain exposure to the AI wave through Vanguard S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VOO#NYSE">VOO</a>) and Invesco QQQ Trust, Series 1 (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>).

Indonesia has blocked sales of Apple Inc&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) latest iPhone 16 models as Apple failed to meet local investment requirements, the WSJ reported.
The Ministry of Industry <a target="_blank" href="https://www.wsj.com/tech/apple-iphone-16-sales-banned-in-indonesia-over-investment-issue-d5322615" rel="noreferrer noopener">told</a> the Wall Street Journal PT Apple Indonesia did not fulfill its investment commitment to sell the new iPhone series in the country.

The sales ban applied to iPhone 16 models and other Apple products remain unaffected by the ban.
Apple&#8217;s investment is currently short by 240 billion rupiah of the 1.71 trillion rupiah (approximately $108.9 million) needed for the license, Indonesia&#8217;s Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita told WSJ.
Indonesia&#8217;s policy requires companies to source some goods or services domestically, which can be achieved through investments or local hiring to reduce reliance on imports.
The ban targets iPhone 16s sold within Indonesia, though handsets bought abroad for personal use are permitted if not resold.
Apple&#8217;s <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41551122/apples-q3-smartphone-sales-slip-despite-strong-iphone-16-demand-market-share-dropped-slightly" rel="noreferrer noopener">smartphone sales declined</a> 0.3% in the third quarter in China, despite the overall Chinese smartphone market growing 3.2%, according to IDC.

The first U.S.-based exchange-traded fund hit a major milestone on Thursday, following recent all-time highs for the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/10/41293799/s-p-500-dow-jones-hit-new-record-highs-as-financial-stocks-soar-on-upbeat-earnings">fund tracking the S&amp;P 500.</a>
What Happened: Launched <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/broad-u-s-equity-etfs/24/01/36722143/happy-birthday-s-p-500-spy-etf-if-you-invested-1-000-in-spy-at-launch-heres-how-much-y">in January 1993,</a> the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) is the oldest U.S.-based ETF and the largest by assets under management.
The ETF reached the $600 billion assets under management milestone Thursday, according to data from <a href="https://etfdb.com/etf/SPY/#etf-ticker-profile">ETFDB</a>.
Managed by State Street Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STT#NYSE">STT</a>), the ETF was launched with seed funding of $6.5 million after being approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 1993, after several years of the fund's application.
Initial interest in the ETF was poor and the fund was almost closed before investors came around to the idea of using ETFs as investment vehicles.
The success of the SPY ETF led to other financial institutions launching similar ETFs that track the S&amp;P 500 Index, one of the largest and most well-known stock market indexes.
The&nbsp;iShares Core S&amp;P 500 ETF&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IVV#NYSE">IVV</a>)&nbsp;and&nbsp;Vanguard S&amp;P 500 Index Fund ETF&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VOO#NYSE">VOO</a>)&nbsp;launched in 2000 and 2010, respectively.
Today, the three ETFs that track the S&amp;P 500 are the largest in the world, according to <a href="https://etfdb.com/compare/market-cap/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ETFDB, </a>with the following assets under management:

<li>IVV: $544.5 billion</li>
<li>VOO: $544.1 billion</li>
</ul>
Based on the metrics above, SPY's time as the only ETF with $600 billion in assets under management may be short-lived, with the two other large S&amp;P 500 ETFs closely behind. Back in January when the SPY celebrated its 31st anniversary, the assets under management were:

<li>VOO: $377 million</li>
</ul>
The difference from January to October shows the strong volume inflows the S&amp;P 500 ETFs are seeing.
Why It's Important: The S&amp;P 500 has set several all-time highs in recent months and the SPY is currently up 23.6% year-to-date in 2024. This year's gain builds on a strong 2023 when the S&amp;P 500 surged over 20%.
Over the last five years, the SPY has averaged a gain of 13.2%. Since its inception, the SPY has averaged an annual return of 10.4%.
One factor that might attract inflows to S&amp;P 500 ETFs in 2024 is that it is a presidential election year.
According to <a href="https://twitter.com/Barchart/status/1739792910667645204?s=20">Barchart</a>, the S&amp;P 500 has posted gains in 13 of the last <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/broad-u-s-equity-etfs/23/12/36416440/why-buy-stocks-in-a-presidential-election-year-history-has-a-crazy-stat-for-you">15 presidential election years</a>. The only two presidential election years in the previous 60-plus years that saw the S&amp;P 500 down were the global financial crisis and the dot-com bubble.
The average return of the S&amp;P 500 in the presidential election years is 10.5%. Stripping out the global financial crisis and the dot-com bubble, the S&amp;P 500 gained an average of 15.3%. The average gain in presidential election years is higher than the historical average since the SPY&#8217;s inception, with or without the financial crisis and the dot-com bubble stripped out.
Strong net inflows for the SPY ETF have helped State Street in recent months. According to a Morningstar <a href="https://www.etf.com/sites/default/files/2024-10/September_2024_US_Fund_Flows_Chartbook.pdf">report</a>, for the month of September, State Street led the way with $18.4 billion in net flows. The SPY ETF had net inflows of $16 billion in September. State Street topped Vanguard ($17.3 billion) and iShares ($9.9 billion) for September net inflows for ETF companies.
SPY Price Action: The SPY is trading at $584.08 at the time of writing, compared to a 52-week trading range of $409.22 to $586.12.

Pinduoduo started selling the iPhone 16 Plus with 512 gigabytes of storage at a 10% discount from the official price. The 128GB iPhone 16 is being sold at an even steeper 11% discount.
Both Pinduoduo and Taobao marketplace have slapped a 4% discount on the 256GB version of the high-end iPhone 16 Pro Max. Tmall shopping platform also offers buyers the option to pay for a new Apple handset in 24 instalments without interest charges.
Kuo Ming-chi of TF International Securities <a target="_blank" href="https://www.scmp.com/tech/big-tech/article/3278855/apples-iphone-16-already-selling-discount-china-ai-delay-cools-demand" rel="noreferrer noopener">told</a> SCMP that the global pre-order sales for the iPhone 16 are down 13% compared to last year&#8217;s iPhone 15 launch, partly due to the absence of Apple Intelligence and intense competition in China.
International Data Corporation (IDC)&nbsp;had <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/08/40600289/apples-market-share-poised-to-gain-genai-and-iphone-16-lead-the-way-idc" rel="noreferrer noopener">projected a recovery</a> in the smartphone market, which was hampered by the supply chain crisis fueled by the 2020 pandemic outbreak in China.

VOO ETF Vs. The Federal Reserve is widely anticipated to cut interest rates at its upcoming Federal Open Market Committee meeting, with the decision set for release on Wednesday <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/09/40878710/investors-bet-on-50-basis-point-rate-cut-wall-street-analysts-urge-caution-this-is-">at 2 p.m. ET.</a>
The central bank has maintained the federal funds rate at 5.25%-5.5% since September 2023 and this week&#8217;s rate reduction would be the first since March 2020, signaling a marked shift from the restrictive monetary policy stance implemented to combat soaring inflation.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Rate Cut Expectations: Will The Fed Opt For 25 Or 50 Basis Points?</h3>
The key question on everyone&#8217;s mind is the magnitude of the rate cut. Will the Fed opt for a cautious 25-basis-point reduction, or will it make a bolder move with a 50-basis-point cut, as seen at the start of previous rate-cutting cycles?
Market sentiment currently differs from Wall Street economist consensus. Traders are pricing in a 63% probability of a 50-basis-point cut, as per the CME FedWatch tool.
Among Wall Street analysts, instead, there is an overwhelming consensus on a more conservative 25-basis-point reduction, but JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. stands out as the notable exception, forecasting a 50-basis-point cut.
According to the biggest U.S. bank, interest rates are about 150 basis points above neutral levels. Therefore, a 25-basis-point cut per meeting would take almost a year to align the policy back to a neutral stance. 
This strengthens the case for frontloading rate cuts at the start of the cycle, particularly given that, in hindsight, a July commencement might have been more appropriate.
Regardless of whether the Fed chooses a 25 or 50-basis-point reduction, analysts expect a series of cuts to continue through 2024 and 2025.

Notable among these were the iShares MSCI EAFE Value ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EFV#NYSE">EFV</a>) and SPDR Portfolio S&amp;P 500 Value ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPYV#NYSE">SPYV</a>), signaling a tilt towards assets that may offer stability and a defensive hedge as the macro regime shifts.
As a traditional beneficiary of lower interest rates, gold has also been on investors&#8217; radar, with prices repeatedly hitting record highs over the last week, supported by strong inflows into the SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>).

Nvidia AI Chips Headed to Saudi Arabia, US Reassesses Export Ban

Intel&nbsp;Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>) CFO David Zinsner expects to generate a &#8220;meaningful&#8221; amount of revenue from its contract chip manufacturing business in 2027, Reuters cites the company&#8217;s CFO at an investor conference on Wednesday.
Intel is currently discussing with 12 potential customers how to generate revenue in 2026 and additional cash in 2027.
The stock has fallen since reports indicated Intel&#8217;s <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/40713483/whats-going-on-with-intel-stock" rel="noreferrer noopener">failure to impress</a> Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVGO#NASDAQ">AVGO</a>) with its latest wafer production.
Intel stock plunged over 47% in the last 12 months as it failed to milk the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/40692084/intels-place-in-dow-in-jeopardy-ai-strategy-under-scrutiny-report" rel="noreferrer noopener">artificial intelligence boom</a>. Its contract manufacturing unit lost out to&nbsp;Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>).
Intel scrapped its 20A manufacturing process for the more advanced 18A manufacturing process, Zinsner told Reuters. Recent reports indicated Intel <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/m-a/24/08/40648165/intel-weighs-major-business-split-factory-delays-amid-strategic-review-report" rel="noreferrer noopener">weighing strategic options</a>, including splitting its product design and manufacturing businesses.
Analysts and investors also speculate Intel is losing its Dow Jones Industrial Average position.
Intel expects a U.S. chip grant not until the end of 2024, posing another dampener for the company, especially after being called out by Republican Senator Rick Scott&nbsp;over its record downsizing plans.

What's Going On With Intel Stock On Thursday?

Undeterred by early August volatility, investors poured a staggering $75 billion into U.S. exchange-traded funds in August, a fivefold increase compared to the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">same period last year.</a>
According to Bloomberg data, the strong August inflows into ETFs have pushed the year-to-date total to over $600 billion, putting 2024 on track to potentially challenge the all-time record of $911 billion in inflows, set in 2021 — a year before the Federal Reserve initiated its rate hike cycle.
Athanasios Psarofagis, an ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, highlighted that investors took advantage of the early August market dip to increase their equity ETF holdings. Additionally, there was a notable surge in demand for bond-related ETFs and small-cap ETFs as investors anticipate the start of the Federal Reserve's rate cuts.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">ETF Market Nears $10 Trillion In Total Value</h3>
Bloomberg data reveals the total value of ETFs is approaching the $10-trillion mark, representing nearly one-third of the total value of all investment funds in circulation. Passive ETFs dominate this space with $8.7 trillion in assets, while actively managed ETFs have grown by 30% this year to $783 billion.
Both fixed-income and equity ETFs have seen strong inflows, with fixed-income products attracting $187 billion and equity ETFs $367 billion so far in 2024. 
Todd Sohn, an ETF strategist at Strategas, said bond ETFs have particularly benefited from an array of new offerings, including actively managed funds. Bond ETFs have attracted $100 billion over the last three months, surpassing the inflows seen during the early pandemic-recovery period in 2020.
Bitcoin-based ETFs have also gained traction, with net inflows exceeding $17 billion so far this year. Leveraged and inverse funds based on single companies have accumulated more than $9 billion in assets.

Senior Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas spoke about the continuous innovation in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/08/40600859/bitcoin-drops-4-loses-60-000-support-as-etfs-see-127m-outflow">ETF industry in 2024</a>, highlighting buffer strategies emerging as a major trend. 
What Happened: Speaking on the ETF Prime <a href="https://etfstore.com/talking-etfs-with-bloombergs-eric-balchunas/">podcast</a>, Balchunas dubbed these products &#8220;boomer drugs&#8221; for their ability to eliminate investor worry.
&#8220;Buffer ETFs have a Xanax-like quality,&#8221; Balchunas said. &#8220;What they really do is eliminate your worry, just like a Xanax will probably get you through turbulence on an airplane.&#8221;
These ETFs, which use options to provide downside protection while capping upside gains, have grown to $50 billion in assets. Balchunas believes they are &#8220;stealing money&#8221; from annuities, structured products and even bonds as investors seek alternatives to traditional portfolio hedges.
Another key trend is the rise of leveraged single-stock ETFs, which Balchunas calls &#8220;hot sauce&#8221; products. The Nvidia 2x leveraged ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDL#NASDAQ">NVDL</a>) has already amassed $6 billion in assets.

Despite these niche products gaining traction, core index ETFs continue to dominate flows. The Vanguard S&amp;P 500 ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VOO#NASDAQ">VOO</a>) has taken in $60 billion year-to-date, on pace to potentially double the annual inflow record.
However, the biggest story in the ETF world this year may be the runaway success of spot&nbsp;Bitcoin&nbsp;(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) ETFs. Since their January launch, these products have seen a staggering $18 billion in net inflows over just eight months.
The success of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/best-spot-bitcoin-etfs">Bitcoin ETFs</a> has silenced many critics and demonstrated the pent-up demand for regulated crypto investment vehicles.

The Ryzen 9 9900X has been retailing for 499 euros, as opposed to the 539 euros launch price, and the Ryzen 7 9700X at 379&nbsp;euros against 399&nbsp;euros in&nbsp;Germany from launch day, which is an unlikely phenomenon for new CPUs, as per the report.
AMD recently <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/m-a/24/08/40438854/amd-expands-ai-capabilities-acquires-zt-systems-in-major-4-9b-deal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">forged a deal</a> to acquire artificial intelligence server builder ZT Systems for $4.9 billion, including an earnout of up to $400 million.
