Donald Trump said that if Republicans did well in the midterm elections he should get the credit, but if they lose, he should not be the one to blame.

No seriously, he said that.

Well, it looked like Dr. Oz, the Republican senate candidate in Pennsylvania, lost to his progressive opponent Jon Fetterman, and Trump was not happy.

Maggie Haberman, a New York Times reporter who has covered Trump for years and wrote a book about him, "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America," tweeted that Trump is "furious" about Oz’s loss, and blamed his wife Melania Trump for recommending Oz.

Oz, a candidate Trump backed and campaigned for, was a favorite on betting markets heading into Tuesday’s election. But Fetterman, who had a stroke in May, seemed to shake off concerns after he struggled through a debate against Oz a few weeks ago.

After Tuesday’s election, many conservative commentators are calling for the GOP to ditch Trump. Fox News even declared Ron DeSantis, who won reelection as governor of Florida, as the new Republican party leader. Conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro called Trump a “drag” on Republicans.

Trump-linked Digital World Acquisition Corp DWAC shares traded down nearly 20% on Wednesday. The SPAC has a pending merger with Trump Media & Technology Group, the social media and media company owned by Trump. Other companies aligned with conservatives, Point Bridge America First ETF MAGA and God Bless America ETF YALL, also traded lower Wednesday following underwhelming election results for Republicans.
