New Nintendo Wii to Be Unveiled in June (NTDOY)

Japanese company Nintendo NTDOY said Monday that the company will unveil its successor the highly-popular Wii game console in June at the E3 game show. According to the company, a prototype of the new Wii in Los Angeles on June 7 at the E3 show. "As for the details of exactly what it will be, we have decided that it is best to let people experience it for themselves at E3," Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said Monday. "So I won't talk about specific details today, but it will offer a new way of playing games within the home," he continued. The Nintendo Wii is a game console that is controlled by the user's physical motion in front of the television screen. It popularized the video game segment for a number of new demographics, including senior citizens. Wii console sales fell to 15.1 million units in 2010 from 20.1 million a year earlier. Rivals Microsoft MSFT and Sony SNE have both released motion-controlled experiences with a game console. Nintendo is engaged in the development, manufacturing and sale of portable and console game machines as well as game software.
