The Most Amazing Thing I've Ever Seen (AAPL, AOL, GOOG, YHOO, MSFT)

Search engines have come a long way, from the days of searching the internet through AOL AOL. Remember when we had to use the exact address or it wouldn't return a search result? It seems like forever ago, but it was really only around 15 years ago, which is less than a generation. Google GOOG, Yahoo YHOO and Microsoft's MSFT Bing have transformed the search engine industry here in the United States, and there is tremendous amounts of money to be made in this industry. I've come upon something that blows them all away. Wolfram Alpha. Wolfram Alpha has been around for a couple of years, and it's really starting to gain traction. What makes Wolfram Alpha different than any of the other search engines, is that it's not going to return a series of web pages and then make you decide which page or result will best suit you for whatever you're using it for. Wolfram Alpha is a computational engine that actually gives you an answer to whatever your query is. You can ask it whatever you want. For example, if you put in a ticker symbol for a particular company, like Apple AAPL, it not only returns the stock price, but it returns company data, such as return, competitors, revenues and other pertinent financial information. You don't even need to know the ticker symbol of the company, you can just type in the name and it pops up info for you. You can put in a string of companies, and it will keep adding to the results, until you get what you want. It's still being worked on and fine tuned everyday, but this is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen come out of the technology industry. The potential uses this has are limitless. From healthcare, to education, to finance, it can be used in every facet in life, and it is truly one of the most revolutionary products I've ever seen. If enough money is put behind this, this could be one of the greatest technological innovations of our lifetimes. That is, if someone doesn't buy it and screw it up first. Take a look here for a introduction to Wolfram Alpha. Here's the website to try it out for yourself.
