Even as Tesla Inc. TSLA Elon Musk grapples with setting the Twitter house in order, he has signaled interest in buying another online platform.
It all started when a Twitter user pointed out that Alphabet, Inc. GOOGL GOOG-owned YouTube’s manipulation for political purposes is far worse than Twitter's. Musk replied to the tweet with a thinking emoji.

Responding to the exchange, Stephen Sullivan, founder of pharma and technology company Meds.com, suggested Musk should consider buying Substack, an online platform that provides the infrastructure to support subscription newsletters. With a potential Substack purchase, the billionaire would have the information layer with Twitter and the narrative layer, he said.

Corporate media can then specialize in reporting government leaks, citing ‘people familiar with the matter,” he added.
Musk replied by saying, “I’m open to the idea.”
Some of his followers, however, weren’t impressed. One of them pleaded not to piggyback on Tesla. Another said there is no need to buy Substack since it is already “pretty good on free speech.”
