Akamai's Streaming Success

Netflix NFLX has been a huge success even before the Cambridge based company began streaming live video over the web. Since beginning streaming movie and TV shows via the web Netflix continues to gain momentum. User no longer have to wait days to view their movies with this new technology. Who helps make this possible? Akamai Technologies Inc. AKAM provides services for accelerating and improving the delivery of content and applications over the internet. Akamai is up about 25% over the past month while Netflix is up about 30%. These companies performance are very similar over the past six months. Both companies posted solid earnings and Akamai is expanding its business to cater to the growing digital viewing world. Prices to stream video were recently cut but in a conference call the CEO forecasts strong demand growth in the coming quarters.
