Technology stocks moved up, driven by Oracle Corp ORCL, Research In Motion RIMM and Texas Instruments TXN. ORCL shares jumped about 6%, following a strong rise in the company's FQ1 profit. RIMM also posted upbeat earnings for the latest quarter. TXN's plan to repurchase another $7.5 billion in shares and lifting its quarterly dividend helped the company to rise about 2%.
Agilysys Inc AGYS has named Henry Bond as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), replacing Kenneth Kossin. Bond was the CFO for Landis+Gyr North America. According to the company, Kossin has left to "pursue other career interests." AGYS' Chief Executive Martin Ellis said, "We thank Ken for his many contributions to the company and wish him all the best in his future endeavors." AGYS shares are up more than 2%.
Energy stocks moved down along with the wider market. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI) lost about 0.56%, while the NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG) fell about 0.76%. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX) is also down about 0.39%.
