Afternoon Market Update (LUV, JBLU, LCC)

US Airline stocks moved down today. Some of the losers in the list are Southwest Airlines LUV, JetBlue Airways JBLU and US Airways LCC. The NYSE Arca Airline Index (XAL) fell about 0.2%. US Treasurys moved down to push the yields higher, after higher-than-expected decline in the weekly jobless claims. Yields on benchmark 10-year Treasury notes gained about 2.5%, while yields on two-year notes rose about 5.4%. Oil service shares moved up along with the natural gas shares today. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI) rose about 0.5%, while the NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG) gained about 0.4%. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX) also moved up about 0.4%.
