Nuance Rises On Apple Speculation (NUAN, AAPL)

Wow. Shares of Nuance Communications NUAN spiked this morning after a website posted a video in which Apple AAPL co-founder Steve Wozniak said that the company had acquired Nuance. The stock traded as much as 12% higher to $19.19, but has given back most of those gains. Currently, NUAN shares are up 4.21% at $17.83. A video clip posted on TVDeck.com showed Wozniak as saying, "They (Apple) recently bought the company Nuance that does a lot of great voice recognition." I don't think he was supposed to say that...furthermore, it does not appear to be true. Either way, the speculation is now running rampant and volume in NUAN shares is running at more than 5x the daily average with 2 hours left in the trading session. Despite the fact that much of the volume on the exchanges these days is just competing algos shuffling stock back and forth, rumor, speculation, and innuendo are still rampant on Wall Street. Be careful out there.
