By 10:22 am, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 68.91 points, or 0.57%, to 12,117.85, while the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index had gained 7.77 points, or 0.61%. The NASDAQ composite index rose 6.72 points, or 0.25%.
Some of the narrow based indexes that are driving the markets are Rare Earth Stocks, which have gained 2.1%, Money Transfer Services and Payment Processing Socks, up 1.7%, and Vehicle Rental Stocks, moving 1.7% higher as a group.
In Tickerspy's Rare Earth complex, Avalon Rare Metals Inc AVL had surged 3.4%. AVL appointed two new senior executives to its management team.
The best performing Tickerspy Money Transfer Services and Payment Processing stock has been Heartland Payment Systems Inc HPY, which was up 7.1%. HPY's Chief Security Officer John South received the Information Security Executive (ISE) Central 2011 Award from T.E.N. -Tech Exec Networks Inc.
Amerco UHAL is today's leading Tickerspy's Vehicle Rental stock, gaining 8.5%. UHAL swung to a profit in the fourth quarter.
