Soccer Star Neymar Spends $54 Million To Buy In Dubai's Bugatti Building. His Real Estate History Is As Flashy As His Foot Skills

Brazilian soccer legend Neymar is equally known for his flashy lifestyle and dazzling skills on the field. His latest real estate purchase – a $54.45 million home in Dubai's Bugatti Building – keeps that reputation intact.

Now at the tail end of his career and playing in the Saudi Pro League alongside Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, Neymar (whose full name is Neymar da Silva Santos Jr) has a net worth of $350 million. His current salary is around $4 million per week over two years. He has continually purchased lavish homes in the cities where he has played soccer or had a close affinity – Barcelona, Rio, Paris and Sao Paulo. He also recently purchased a Miami waterfront plot for $26 million, where he plans to build a 13,000-square-foot home using London-based design firm Elicyon. His latest purchase could top them all.

Dubai's French Riviera

Nestled in Dubai's exclusive Business Bay, the as-yet-unfinished home will feature a private car elevator capable of transporting vehicles directly to the penthouse and a private swimming pool with panoramic views of Downtown Dubai. Neymar has chosen one of the 11 Sky Mansion Penthouses. The building enjoys an exclusive beach, drawing inspiration from the French Riviera.

An Endorsement-Laden Career

Despite being lauded as one of the best soccer players of his generation, Neymar's career has been dogged with injuries, which, coupled with his playboy reputation, has left many people feeling that the icon never reached his full potential athletically. Despite this, he has enjoyed a lucrative endorsement-laden career, with Puma – whose sponsorship is worth $30 million per year – and Red Bull among the notable brands that have paid big bucks to have the Brazilian superstar tout their name.

254 Million Social Media Followers

He also has a rabid 226 million followers on Instagram (not including his Facebook following). Neymar is paid an incredible $500K (as of 2023) bonus for every Instagram post promoting Saudi Arabia. According to some online speculation, this doesn't include the branded posts he does for other companies, which are reportedly worth over $1 million per post.

Getting Paid To Game

Though only 32, due to his history of injuries, it's doubtful Neymar will continue playing into his late thirties like his contemporaries Ronaldo and Messi. That doesn't mean his financial net worth will diminish. In fact, as with David Beckham – a co-owner of MLS team Inter Miami CF who is worth $450 million – it could explode.

A Long-Term Commitment To Saudi Arabia

Neymar recently signed a deal with Facebook to stream gaming live. He has 254 million followers across Facebook and Instagram. He'll stream gameplay multiple times each month and play with a different creator once a month.

Neymar is also an ambassador of Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2034 World Cup, a role that will extend far beyond his playing days.

However, before Neymar finally hung up his boots, a Brazilian news outlet stated that he was keen to return to his homeland and play for his first club, Santos. As speculation grew, Neymar, who has many lucrative Saudi endorsement deals to fulfill, shot the rumors down:

"The opportunity to play here and live in a country like this is very important for people. That is why I always say that I was very well received here. I am very happy and I am sure it will only get better. I am sure other stars will come here. I believe that many will have the opportunity to come here and I think that everyone should have the opportunity to experience what I have experienced here."
