In a fiercely competitive market for ultra-luxury properties, a select few achieved astronomical sale prices, setting new benchmarks and showcasing the pinnacle of residential opulence.

Each a masterpiece in its own right, some of the homes commanded record-breaking prices, showcasing the extraordinary wealth of their new owners.

According to real estate brokerage Redfin, the median home sale price for the four weeks ending Dec. 22 reached $383,725, but some properties achieved significantly higher sales.

Redfin highlighted the following properties as having the five highest sale prices last year:

Carpinteria, California: $96 million

According to Redfin, a 9,000-square-foot mansion built in 2007, inspired by Tuscan farmhouse architecture, sold for $96 million.

The estate has five bedrooms and multiple bathrooms. It sits on a 10-acre lot with waterfront frontage and photos reveal a large pool in the backyard.

Aspen, Colorado: $77 million

The Ranch at Owl Creek, a sprawling 60-acre estate in Aspen, Colorado, sold for $77 million in April. Described in its listing as a "mountain oasis," the property offers convenient access to popular ski resorts like Snowmass and Buttermilk.

The luxurious retreat boasts a range of impressive amenities, including a heated swimming pool, two hot tubs, a stocked trout pond, a workout pavilion, a movie theater and a well-stocked wine cellar.

The main residence has eight bedrooms, including a lavish master suite, eight full bathrooms and three half-baths. Six fireplaces provide warmth and ambiance throughout the estate.

Miami Beach, Florida: $72.25 million

A 12,500-square-foot modern home on the shores of Biscayne Bay in Miami Beach sold for $72.25 million. The residence has nine bedrooms, providing ample space for a large family or frequent guests.

According to the listing, the home features a range of desirable amenities, including dedicated maid/in-law quarters, a wet bar and a versatile den/library/office space. The property sits on a 0.58-acre waterfront lot, offering views and direct access to the bay.

Aspen, Colorado: $66.5 million

Aspen saw another significant real estate transaction in 2024, with a five-bedroom home selling for $66.5 million in late April.

Public records reveal that a limited liability company acquired the property, which occupies a 9,000-square-foot lot in downtown Aspen.

The recent sale marks a significant increase from the property's previous transaction in 2022, when it sold for $20.5 million.

Carpinteria, California: $65 million

In mid-November, a $65 million mansion in Carpinteria was acquired. The estate encompasses three oceanfront parcels on a bluff totaling about 12 acres.

The main residence offers 10,900 square feet of living space, including five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

According to Redfin, several other properties also commanded eight-figure prices in 2024. These include a $62.8 million sale in Los Angeles, a $62.5 million sale in Miami Beach and a $62 million sale near Reno, Nevada.
