The group behind Drizly, a Boston-based alcohol e-commerce, has launched Lantern, a website that serves as a third-party cannabis provider, providing online ordering and delivery of cannabis to certified medical cannabis patients in Boston. The company guarantees a 60-minutes-or-less delivery time.
How It Works
Lantern serves as a link between customers and retailers. Therefore it doesn't need a state license before launching and has already partnered with several dispensaries.
Weed orders are sent to dispensaries, where consumers' certifications are verified before delivery. Orders will initially be fulfiled by Revolutionary Clinics.
The company is led by Meredith Mahoney, e-commerce veteran. Commenting on the launch, Mahoney said, "Lantern is uniquely equipped to bring the long-sought discretion and convenience of online ordering and home delivery of cannabis to patients in Massachusetts, and to evolve as regulations evolve.
"We launch today with an intuitive digital experience focused on delivering high-quality products at the best prices within an hour. We're gearing up for recreational e-commerce and delivery as well, and we'll be there to help you find what products are right for you, delivered to your door quickly and safely, once regulations are in place."
