Jamaica Awaits: How About A Ganja Vacation? Get Out Of The Cold & Into The Sun With Weed Galore

Zinger Key Points
  • Jamaica’s year-round temps are between 78 and 88 degrees, in case you're wondering (or cold!).
  • A ganja tour that meets everyone's needs, especially cannabis and nature lovers.

With temps dropping throughout most of the U.S. and Canada, isn’t it time to start thinking about a vacation to Jamaica? We’ve got some info on a visit that is just about as unique as you can imagine.

That would be a tour planned by GanjaVacations, which in addition to the essentials like where to hang your hat, eat meals and get around this tropical island, they also provide tours to wellness facilities, herb houses (weed shops) cannabis farms, Rastafarian areas and a lot more.

Jamaica’s average year-round temps, by the way, are between 78 and 88 degrees.

GanjaVacations' founder and CEO Norman Lawrence was born in Jamaica though he’s lived for several decades in the U.S., that is to say long enough to earn B.A. and MBA degrees from Columbia University and then work for such companies as Chase Manhattan  JPM, Citicorp C and First Chicago.

Lawrence, who attended the recent Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference in Chicago, said GanjaVacations is a product of recent changes in Jamaican law as well as his on-the-ground experience with a local resort client.

What Are Those Cannabis Changes? The long and the short of it, Lawrence explained to Benzinga is that in Jamaica you can buy weed legally at any of the herb houses that are popping up all over the island. You can do that with your own doctor’s recommendation or you can tell the herb house's medical person that you intend to use your ganja for a “therapeutic purpose.”

Although ganja is technically legal only for medical purposes, any adult over 18 can buy up to two ounces. Just don’t smoke in public and don’t take it with you when you return to your home country. If you feel like getting an MMJ recommendation from an herb house, that can be done for around $10, with basically no questions asked.

Here’s what GanjaVacations can do to make your trip easy to manage, informative and loads of fun.

First, they will arrange housing, which involves cannabis-friendly lodging. Check HERE for a full list of weed-friendly places to stay. Get your notebooks out…there are at least four dozen.

Traveling from place to place, including airport pickup, is also taken care of as visitors can choose an individual tour or a group experience. Places to visit include herb houses, health and wellness facilities, cannabis farm and weed tours, including Bob Marley's birthplace and final resting place, and a visit to the Rastafarian areas where you’ll learn about the religious importance of ganja among this community. Jamaica was the first country to officially legalize cannabis for religious use.

“Whether your cannabis vacation interests are recreational, medicinal, culinary, cultural or whatever,” says Lawrence. “GanjaVacations will find it and take you there.”

Last but not least: The cost of the tours is super reasonable!
