No More Medical Cannabis In Canada? Here's Why State Agency Health Canada Wants To End The Program

Health Canada, the Canadian government agency responsible for the health of its citizens, is considering ending medical cannabis in the country.

That is why the agency has launched a survey for Canadians to voice their opinion on the issue.

However, some skeptics believe that the decision has already been taken. In an interview with Cannabis Life Network, cannabis activist Ted Smith said: "Whenever they publish these kinds of surveys they are always disingenuous. In reality, they are already very clear about the position they are aiming for."

And added: "I know for a fact that Health Canada and their lawyers have been preparing for years to argue that there is no need for a specific medical program now."

This is due, experts say, to the legalization of recreational cannabis in 2018.

According to Cannabis Life Network, a court ruling forced Health Canada to establish a medical cannabis program in 2001. But now, Ted Smith thinks cannabis in Canada will no longer be a prescription drug.

Thus, it will become available to anyone without a prescription, and remain outside of health insurance coverage.

"They don't want to give people discounts, they don't want to answer questions about medical use and do all the extra paperwork for medical care, they just want to get stuff out the door quickly," Smith warned.

How to prevent this from happening? Canadians can fill out this survey to make their voice heard and prevent the dismantling of the cherished medical cannabis program.
