Dutchie announced the expansion of Dutchie Pay for in-store purchases across the U.S. This cash-free payment offering integrated into Dutchie’s all-in-one platform gives consumers and dispensaries access to more convenient and compliant ways to pay, reducing reliance on cash.
“The safety and business risks associated with an over reliance on cash are preventing the cannabis industry from reaching its full potential. Our industry deserves more convenient and modern payment options that are afforded to every other legal industry. We are laser focused on helping to solve our customer’s most pressing challenges, and the expansion of Dutchie Pay for in-store purchases will help businesses drive more sales and earn happier customers,” Chris McFall, head of Dutchie Pay, told Benzinga.
Dutchie’s cashless payment solution expansion comes as the industry faces the reality that cashless ATM services now appear unsustainable. With approximately 90% of cannabis transactions handled in cash, access to modern payment solutions remains one of the biggest barriers to normalizing the cannabis shopping experience and is essential for the legal industry to compete with the illicit market. Cash-free payment solutions provide a frictionless checkout process for customers and help dispensaries maximize revenue, with consumers typically spending about 25 percent more per order via cashless payment options versus cash.
Launched in July 2022, Dutchie Pay is a fully-integrated digital payment solution that gives dispensaries and consumers a convenient and secure one-click payment option. The closed-loop automatic clearing house (ACH) solution is now available for customers to use in-person at their favorite dispensaries. With 64 percent of first-time consumers returning to Dutchie Pay, the solution allows consumers to quickly connect to their bank account and pay directly at checkout via ACH bank transfer while automating compliance so that dispensaries can focus on growing their business. With Dutchie Pay, dispensaries can reduce abandoned pickup orders, boost customer frequency by 49 percent, and experience up to a 25 percent increase in average order values.
