Cops Joke About Pot Arrest, Call Jail 'Bed & Breakfast,' Concealing Cannabis In Body Cavity & More In Weed Chronicles

Police Publicly Joke About Arresting Man And Seizing His Mercedes Over A Cannabis Pen

Recreational marijuana has been legalized across 21 states plus Washington D.C., yet in states where it isn't, people are being arrested for both simple possession and consumption of the plant. While some argue that people should know if they're breaking the law, how can one defend police who not only arrested the man but then mocked him on social media?

What happened?

Last week, the Rincon Police Department bragged on Facebook META about arresting a North Carolina man for cannabis possession in front of a Walmart WMT parking lot, reported Newsweek.

Instead of summarizing the arrest, officers joked about it calling the local jail a “bed and breakfast” and seizing a man’s Mercedes Benz a “charitable” giving program.

"He had no idea that if you get caught with enough of certain controlled substances, in this case concentrated THC referred to as Dabs, you can donate your vehicle to the police department," according to the Facebook page. "This was extremely generous since he had just purchased the Mercedes in full one day prior. With Mr. Banks being from out of state, we provided him with transportation to a local Effingham County bed & breakfast.”

Many didn't share the officers' humor and posted critical comments. "It's great that some comedian in the Rincon PD thinks civil asset forfeiture is a laughing matter because I certainly don't," and "Hey, look at us, we stole a car because of plants! I don't think we can legally call ourselves a free country anymore."

According to a police report, acquired by Newsweek, it seems that the suspect had only a small amount of weed for personal use.

Spike Cohen, an ex-Libertarian candidate for vice president, also commented. “Imagine being such a violent thug that you kidnap someone and steal their vehicle for possessing a plant extract and then brag about it on social media. I guess at least you didn't beat him to death? Baby steps. Get a real job. It is long past time for us to end the war on drugs, and also to end civil asset forfeiture, so these people can't just rob us at will without even getting a conviction first."

Drug Dealers Still Hide Weed In Buttocks

An English man caught with weed hidden in his buttocks in October 2020, got a suspended jail sentence by a judge writes Spalding Today.

Modestas Stasys (22) was selling weed on the streets of Spalding, a market town in England. After searching his home, the police found more marijuana.

Stasys was found guilty on three charges – two of possessing a Class B substance with intent to supply others and acquiring criminal cash.

Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight told Stasys: "I am sure you were street dealing to others. Spalding is a small place, “ adding that an immediate jail sentence can be avoided due to the defendant's intent to stop using marijuana.

He was sentenced to eight months suspended for 18, 100 hours of unpaid community work and 20 days of rehab.

Marijuana User Was Sure He Was OK To Drive

How much weed is too much to drive? Determining cannabis impairment with any certainty is still an inexact science.

Recently, a man was stopped by police for a routine checkup on the new Casteltwon Road in Douglas, on the Isle of Man. The officers noticed a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle reported Isle Of Man Today.

Cole Michael Dodd confessed to smoking cannabis the prior night. A blood test later confirmed the presence of THC above the legal limit.

Dodd had no previous convictions, and his lawyer, Jim Travers argued that his client had gone a notable amount of time between consuming marijuana and driving. “It was a classic case of believing he was OK to drive at the time. “

Dodd was fined £1,000 ($1216.73), ordered to pay prosecution costs and banned from driving for two years.
