CrossFit Sea Dog is hosting its third Sea Dog Summer Showdown to benefit the Warriors Choice Foundation.
This two-day family-friendly athletic competition to raise funds for the local non-profit organization is set to take place on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2, at the Seabreeze Amphitheater at Carlin Park in Jupiter, Florida.
The competition will feature a diverse range of athletic events, including the RX Male, Female, and Co-Ed divisions, Masters (40-50) Male, Female, and Co-Ed divisions, Grand Masters (50+) Male, Female, and Co-Ed divisions, Scaled Male, Female, and Co-Ed divisions, Intermediate Male, Female, and Co-Ed divisions, and a new General Adaptive Individual division.
For the first time, adaptive athletes will participate in the competition. Founder of WCF Anthony Longo expressed his excitement for the new addition, saying, “Adaptive athletes add a new element to the competition which demonstrates the strength and perseverance to overcome adversity. It’s a triumph of the human spirit, and I’m enthralled to be a part of that atmosphere.”
The event will also feature a vendor area that provides products to support health and wellness, including local businesses, such as animal and dog corporations. Attendees can enjoy food trucks and beverages on both days of the competition.
Registration for the Sea Dog Summer Showdown is open to all, and the team names must be unique. All sales are final, but athletes can transfer their tickets to another athlete if they are unable to compete due to unforeseen circumstances.
WCF was founded by US Marine Corp Combat Veteran Anthony Longo to help combat veterans suffering from PTSD and mental illness. The organization provides combat veterans with highly trained Belgian Malinois canines that assist with physical and emotional independence. WCF also offers wellness retreats in South Florida that promote relaxation and inner harmony, all at no cost.
CrossFit Sea Dog, a local, family-owned business run by Kelli and Adam Davis, aims to improve health and fitness for people of all ages in Jupiter, FL. The gym caters to all individuals and their specific training and athletic needs and is a vital community partner. They host the Sea Dog Summer Showdown to encourage community involvement and give back to those who faithfully served their country.
“CrossFit Sea Dog chose local non-profit organization, Warriors’ Choice Foundation as the recipient of the proceeds from Sea Dog Summer Showdown due to the organization’s integrity and passion for providing individually tailored services to combat veterans, including service dogs, adaptive residential programs, and rehabilitative services,” said Kelli Davis, co-founder of CrossFit Sea Dog and co-creator of Sea Dog Summer Showdown.
Last year's participant, Mellisa Montalvo, was impressed by the event's organization and friendly volunteers, saying, "The Sea Dog Summer Showdown is a great event for a good cause!"
The Sea Dog Summer Showdown aims to bring the community together to support a worthy cause while promoting health and wellness. By participating in the event or attending as a spectator, individuals can contribute to the Warriors Choice Foundation’s mission of helping combat veterans recover from mental illness and PTSD.
