Berner, the rapper, co-founder and CEO of the cannabis and clothing brand Cookies, spoke at Benzinga's Psychedelics Capital Conference in Miami Beach in April 2022. During the conference, he talked about the genesis of Cookies and how it evolved into a multi-million dollar brand. He said that the company started in the medical proposition 215 days and focused on menus and genetics to expand globally.
Cookies embraced a different model than other cannabis companies and leveraged its brand recognition to expand globally quickly. Berner believes in empowering people and networking with the best operators worldwide to expand their business.
The rapper also discussed his favorite products, including Caps by Cookies, a line that combines medicinal but not psychedelic mushrooms, terpenes, CBD, CBG, and CBN for a non-psychoactive, uplifting experience. The line debuted with two iterations: Clarity, meant for daytime consumption, and Bed Head, intended for nighttime. Caps help him with his rest and mental peace, and he said it is a game-changer for him.
Berner plans to introduce psychedelics in his products, positioning himself to be ready when the time comes, but he wants to ensure that it is done legally and safely.
During the conference, Berner also talked about Vibes, a lifestyle and apparel company he developed in partnership with Green Lane Holding, which is doubling down on the focus for Vibes. The rolling paper industry has been monopolized for a long time, but Vibes has been able to grab a lot of market share recently, very organically and grassroots, very similar to the way they built Cookies. Berner believes that the culture wanted something new, and Vibes provided that by being owned by someone who is in the game and who designed the papers for weed.
Returning to psychedelics, the artist said he believes that the dosing of these substances is crucial: proper dosing is one of the most critical elements when it comes to mainstreaming them. Berner also thinks that there needs to be proper guidance on how to use them and that he plans to position himself to be ready when the time comes to make it legal. Berner thinks that alternative plant medicine has a lot of potential and that people should take advantage of it, but it should be done safely.
