Global Cannabis Times (GCT) recently unveiled its inaugural GCT100 list, highlighting the top 100 movers and shakers in the cannabis industry. The list features a diverse group of individuals, including journalists, artists, investors, brand-builders, geneticists, podcasters, and politicians. Among the honorees are Benzinga's Jason Raznick, Javier Hasse and Maureen Meehan, who have been recognized in the Media & Publishing category for their outstanding contributions to the cannabis space.
Maureen Meehan serves as an editor and writer at Benzinga Cannabis, the most-read cannabis news source in the world, while Jason Raznick is the company's founder. Raznick built the business from the group up, starting it from his basement in Detroit in 2010. Raznick and Meehan's dedication and passion for the industry have made them invaluable assets in the world of cannabis journalism.
Javier Hasse is the managing director of Benzinga Cannabis as well as co-founder and CEO of El Planteo. With his vast experience in the cannabis industry, Hasse has become a prominent figure in the media landscape.
The GCT100 list was compiled through a rigorous process, with more than 500 nominees across ten main categories. The categories encompassed various aspects of the cannabis industry, from activism to technology. Candidates were identified through a combination of recent articles, third-party "Influencer" lists, non-cannabis media coverage, social media following, and nominations from the Global Cannabis Times Editorial Panel.
A select voting panel of industry insiders and subject-matter experts from around the world participated in a two-week closed vote to determine the final GCT100 list. The scoring formula used to rank nominees consisted of three components: Recognition Score (47% of the score), Voting Score (33% of the score), and Social Score (20% of the score), with a maximum possible score of 1,500 points.
The inclusion of Hasse, Raznick and Meehan in the GCT100 list serves as a testament to their influence and impact on the ever-evolving cannabis industry. As the sector continues to grow and diversify, the contributions of these individuals, along with their fellow honorees, will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping the future of cannabis across the globe.
