Hope For Home Cultivation In Germany, Canadian Report Looks At Benefits Of Cannabis Sales

Germany's New Draft Bill Would Legalize Home Cultivation For Adults

Germany's Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has submitted a draft bill to legalize marijuana possession, cultivation and social clubs. The proposal would allow adults to possess up to 25 grams of marijuana and grow up to three plants for personal use. It would also permit cannabis social clubs where growers can distribute cannabis products.

On-site consumption would not be allowed at the clubs, though they could distribute up to seven seeds or five cuttings per month to each member to be used in their own home cultivation. The legislation is the first of a two-part reform framework. The possession and home grow language would not be subject to the EU's review.

Aurora's Report On Cannabis Sales To Reveal Financial Benefits

An upcoming report from municipal staff in Aurora, Ontario will investigate the benefits brought by retail cannabis sales to the town, which voted to opt-in for such sales in 2019. Since then, stores have thrived, and the report will analyze the financial accounting of what the town received directly or indirectly, and all correspondence issued by staff to the AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario).

In addition, the report will look into the impact of the Ontario Cannabis Legalization Implementation Fund, which provides money to opt-in communities like Aurora on a per-household basis.
