In Las Cruces, New Mexico, nestled amidst the rugged Organ Mountains and the sweeping Rio Grande, young Brianna McGee grew up with a fierce spirit of independence and a desire to make a difference. Raised by a single mom, McGee's passion for nursing led her to earn a Bachelor's degree in the field, and she now finds herself on the cusp of completing a Finance degree from Indiana University-Purdue University.
Little did she know that her nursing background would ignite her entrepreneurial spirit and lead her to challenge the status quo in the cannabis industry.
It all began in Las Vegas in 2016, when McGee first crossed paths with Brian Jenkins, a like-minded individual who shared her values and aspirations. The two would later forge a partnership and co-found Bombatta, a cannabis company that aims to provide consistent, high-quality products for newbies and cannasseurs alike. Officially launched in December 2022, Bombatta quickly gained traction and success.
"We were determined to share the healing benefits of cannabis with others," McGee says, recalling her early motivations. "It's a plant that has been stigmatized in places like the small town I grew up in, but it has the power to change lives."
When an opportunity to collaborate with one of the Runtz founders emerged, McGee and Jenkins didn't hesitate to seize it. Their partnership with the Jokes Up business platform provided them with access to new strain genetics and dispensaries, such as Ice Kream—the first outlet to sell Bombatta products.
A self-professed lover of travel and new experiences, McGee relishes immersing herself in different cultures and having fun along the way. However, she also takes her commitment to giving back very seriously. Aiding her local community, she works with the non-profit Southport High School Adult Athletic Booster Club to raise funds for the school's athletic departments, ensuring that no student must "pay to play."
As a female founder in a male-dominated industry, McGee's Bombatta venture is a testament to her resilience, determination, and pioneering spirit. By tapping into her nursing background and her unifying goal of helping others, she has shattered glass ceilings and help put more women on the cannabis map.
"I want to empower and inspire other women to break into this industry," McGee affirms. "It's time we change the narrative and show that women, too, can thrive in the world of cannabis."
As the sun sets over the southwestern desert, Brianna McGee's star continues to rise. With the creation of Bombatta, she has made a profound impact on the cannabis landscape, blazing a trail for women and proving that anything is possible when passion meets purpose.
