Louisiana Man Arrested After Giving 5-Year-Old Marijuana And Recording It

A Louisiana man was arrested after posting a video to social media of a 5-year-old smoking cannabis.

What happened: According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, John Hall was arrested for aiding the delinquency of a juvenile, writes WBRZ 2. It remains unclear when the video was taken, as the police were only made aware of it recently through an anonymous tip. The child, who was given a “blunt” while sitting in the front passenger seat of a car, is the grandson of Hall’s ex-girlfriend. 

Hall was taken to jail on Tuesday.

This is not the first incident the young boy was involved in, due to the lack of proper adult supervision. In May, his mother Desiree Felder was arrested after her son and her nephew hurt themselves with a loaded gun. She had not reported the incident to the police though they learned about it via a hospital report of two children with gunshot wounds.

Olean Police Will Charge Two Cannabis Shops Following Raid 

Local police recently confirmed charges will be filed after raiding two marijuana stores in Olean, New York.

What happened: Last week, Olean police searched two cannabis shops - House of Strainz, 1214 W. State St., and Bud Brothers, 1322 W. State St. where they seized several pounds of marijuana, products and an “assault-style” rifle. The police searched the stores after receiving more than a dozen complaints, writes Olean Times Herald. 

“We had complaints, and some of the complaints were that persons under 21 were buying weed also,” said police captain Robert Blovsky, head of the Street Crimes Unit. 

Illegal marijuana sales are an ongoing issue in NY state, in spite of efforts by authorities to crack down. Blovesky added that the city police have received “no guidance whatsoever” from the state since marijuana became legal. 

It is important to note that Olean's Mayor Bill Aiello’s office confirmed that the city received no application notification even though the state law requires applicants for adult-use retail licenses to inform their municipality between 30 and 270 days before applying to the state.

Blovsky added that federal authorities will be notified of the firearm at the House of Strainz.

Careful With GPS: US Driver With 181Kg Of Cannabis And Over $600K Mistakenly Enters Canada

An American driver was arrested after attempting to enter Canada with 181 kg of cannabis and over $602,985 in his vehicle, at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing in Niagara Falls.

What happened: The driver was following his GPS but took the wrong turn because the coordinates were not entered properly. That’s how Andrew Lee Toppenberg, 60, of Tustin, California ended up in the border lineup at Canada's Rainbow Bridge port of entry and met up with the Border Services Agency (CBSA).

As Toppenberg had no passport, he was referred for a secondary examination, during which CBSA officers found 181 kg of cannabis and over $600,000 in cash. CBSA officers arrested him, seized the cash and cannabis then turned the case over to Niagara police and federal border agents.

"The CBSA is extremely proud of the diligence shown by our officers. Their hard work has a profound impact on continually ensuring public safety at our borders,” stated Jeff Walters, director of Niagara's CBSA.

Toppenberg appeared before a Judge on May 5th in St. Catharines, Ontario. He was remanded into custody where he remains until his next court date, which has not been scheduled.
