  • On Wednesday afternoon, the Senate gave unanimous approval, passing by a vote of 19-0, to Governor John Carney's nomination of Coupe, who spent nearly three decades in the Delaware State Police, with two senators absent.

NJ Gains New Executive Director To Take on Cannabis Training Academy

  • Meanwhile, Tauhid Chappell has been appointed executive director of the Cannabis Training Academy (CTA), a position created by the New Jersey Business Action Center (NJBAC).
  • The program is scheduled to kick off later this year. It aspires to help individuals secure an adult-use cannabis operator's license and explore ancillary business opportunities, with a focus on those from underserved communities disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition.

Trulieve

  • Trulieve Cannabis Corp. TRUL TCNNF announced the appointment of Tim Mullany as CFO, replacing Alex D'Amico, effective July 10.
  • Mullany has over two decades of experience in accounting and finance, including prior CFO roles at publicly traded companies Jack in the Box Inc. and RAVE Restaurant Group.
  • Ryan Blust, the company's vice president of finance, will serve as interim CFO until Mullany assumes the role.

MedMen

  • Cannabis retailer MedMen Enterprises Inc. MMEN MMNFF announced the resignation of Ana Bowman as CFO, effective June 29, 2023. Bowman has served as CFO since 2022.

  • Xebra Brands Ltd. XBRA XBRAF 9YC announced on Friday the appointment of Erick Ponce to the company's board of directors.
  • Ponce is a businessman, investor, and entrepreneur and the founder and executive director of ICAN, one of Mexico's leading medical cannabis and cannabinoid science companies in the market in Latin America.

1933 Industries

  • Nevada-based 1933 Industries Inc. TGIF TGIFF tapped Curtis Floyd to serve on its board of directors.
  • Floyd is a seasoned businessman and attorney with public company board expertise in the cannabis industry. He served .on the board of directors of California-based cannabis producer Next Green Wave.
  • Ranson Shepherd opted to depart as director.

Two Toronto Cannabis Businesses Announce Results Of Annual General Meetings Of Shareholders

Meanwhile, the two Toronto-based cannabis operators announced that their shareholders had approved all resolutions at their respective annual general meetings, including members of the board of directors, among other things.

  • Red White & Bloom Brands Inc. RWB RWBYF said the number of directors is now set at six, with the following nominees re-elected as directors, including Brad Rogers, Johannes (Theo) van der Linde, Michael Marchese, Brendan Purdy and Colby De Zen, while Gabriel Bianchi was elected as a new director.
  • TerrAscend Corp. TER TRSSF said at the meeting that common shareholders at the meeting affirmatively approved the re-appointment of Craig Collard, Ira Duarte, Ed Schutter, Kara DioGuardi and Jason Wild as directors of the company.

  • CannaPharmaRx, Inc. CPMD appointed Dean Medwid as its new CEO, succeeding Domenic Colvin.
