Cookies Is Back In Court: Berner And Execs Being Sued For Breach Of Contract, Fiduciary Duty, Fraud

H n V Holdings, the parent company of Seed Junky has filed a lawsuit against the co-founders and executives of Cookies cannabis brand for breach of contract and fiduciary duty, fraud and violations of California business law, reported MJBizDaily.

In 2019, Cookies and Seed Junky partnered on a separate genetics brand called Minntz. The lawsuit alleges that Cookies' executives “abused their power … to cook Minntz’s books to Seed Junky’s detriment” and “lined their pockets at Minntz’s and Seed Junky’s expense.”

Parties named in the lawsuit include:

  • Cookies' co-founder and CEO Gilbert Milam Jr., better known as Berner.

  • Parker Berling, Cookies' president

  • Lesjai Peronnet Chang, a Cookies co-founder, better known as Jai.

  • Ian Habernicht, Cookies’ CFO.

Hearings in the case are scheduled for September and October, according to the public court docket.

This lawsuit comes several months after two investors filed a lawsuit against the Cookies management team, alleging that the brand is being used "for pervasive self-dealing and to strongarm and bully others into paying millions of dollars in personal benefits and kickbacks.”
