Marijuana Dispensary On Tribal Land In Minnesota Already Raided & More Weed Updates In WY, CO & NY

Minnesota: Cannabis Dispensary On Tribal Land Already Raided, No One Arrested

Tribal lands were the first to launch legal recreational cannabis sales in Minnesota last week. Hours thereafter, law enforcement raided a tobacco store on the White Earth reservation Wednesday evening suspecting that cannabis sales were taking place without a license reported Minnesota Reformer.

The police seized marijuana from the dispensary called “Waabigwan Mashkiki” meaning flower medicine in Ojibwe. No one was arrested and charges are yet to be determined by the Mahnomen County attorney.

On July 28th, The White Earth Nation Tribal Council voted to legalize adult-use cannabis and to begin sales on the reservation to both tribal and nontribal members in the first week of August.

The news came on the heels of The Red Lake Nation voting to launch Minnesota’s first Native American tribal medical cannabis dispensary at the NativeCare Dispensary. This decision gives the tribe a competitive advantage, despite its location being a considerable distance from Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, the state’s first THC restaurant started serving hemp tinctures with vegan food in Minneapolis.

Wyoming: Cheyenne City Council Urges Cannabis Reform

Cheyenne's City Council supported a resolution pushing the state to rethink marijuana decriminalization and reform the Wyoming Controlled Substance Act, writes Wyoming News Now.

Members of the council named several reasons, such as the change in public sentiment towards marijuana, acceptance of the plant’s potential medical and recreational benefits and economic potential of the regulated market. It also highlighted the need to work on criminal justice reform.

“Cannabis has been a divisive issue for a long time, but we cannot ignore the changing societal norms and the growing support for reform,” stated one council member. “By supporting this resolution, we are taking a step towards a more informed and inclusive conversation about cannabis in Wyoming.”

Colorado: Online Pot Sales Begin, Denver Warns Illegal Weed Consumption Lounges

Denver regulators are trying to crack down on hospitality businesses that have allegedly hosted cannabis consumption events without having necessary permits and licenses, writes Green Market Report (GMR).

The officials sent warning letters in June and issued at least one ticket for a civil violation.

“After a series of complaints, Denver took enforcement action against unlicensed hospitality businesses in Denver last weekend,” Eric Escudero, spokesman for the Denver Department of Excise and Licensing told GMR, adding that enforcement is “always a last resort.”

The establishments that were warned include Art Gallery Ant Life, Metra Talent Group, The Marijuana Mansion, The Psychedelic Club of Denver, NORML Denver, The Vape Loft, Rooted Heart Yoga Studio and Clubhouse Collective.

Meanwhile, state online cannabis sales have officially began on Monday, some two months after Governor Jared Polis (D) signed the bill permitting them. The legislation, proposed by state Reps William LindstedtSaid Sharbini and Robert Rodriguez eliminates prohibition of internet cannabis sales and introduces regulations to facilitate online commerce.
