David Cohen, the former CEO of Fluence, a provider of energy-efficient LED lighting solutions for commercial cannabis and food production, was appointed to be the new CEO of Dove Automation.
Dove, an affiliate of Calvary Robotics provides next-generation automation solutions that helps growers improve product quality and consistency while dramatically reducing operating expenses.
Cohen’s expertise in branding, scaling and globalizing highly profitable market leaders across the cannabis and technology industries made him a perfect fit for Dove, the company said.
He spent over two decades honing skills in LED lighting, serving in numerous roles as well as in the Controlled Environmental Agriculture business. During his five-year tenure at Fluence, he guided the company through successful acquisitions by multi-billion dollar lighting leaders AMS Osram and Signify.
“I gained what I thought was a good understanding of high-growth businesses, what it takes to scale a company and the perfect formula for customer success,” Cohen wrote in his LinkedIn post on Monday.
What’s Next
His plans for Dove, which builds next-generation robotics service models for growers, include expanding its North American footprint in the second half of 2023.
“I’m excited to remain in the controlled environment agriculture industry with Dove, where we are empowering growers with an advanced robotics service model that helps them package and distribute their products more efficiently and profitably,” Cohen said. “I’m looking forward to leaning on my expertise helping market leaders sustainably scale and globalize their operations to make Dove’s solutions accessible to cultivators throughout the world. Together, we will connect growers with the tools they need to navigate an uncertain market and build toward profitability.”
