EXCLUSIVE: Cannabis Co. Green Horizons Closes $24M Financing, Will Unveil Campus In Coachella Valley

With a vision to position the Coachella Valley as the global cannabis capital, Green Horizons has successfully closed a $24 million financing round, Benzinga Cannabis has learned exclusively. In addition, the company is preparing to unveil the first 101,787 sq. ft. of its ambitious 1,000,000 sq. ft. cultivation and consumer packaged goods (CPG) campus.

The Green Horizons Story

The journey of Green Horizons began with its announcement of the expansive Canna-Campus in April 2022. At the time, construction had already commenced. The company's leap to realizing this monumental dream is largely attributed to co-founder Michael Meade, who invested another $37 million through his firm, Meade Development, enabling the construction of Phase I. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to significantly lower costs, providing Green Horizons with a competitive edge against potential market price fluctuations.

For real estate titan Michael Meade and plant medicine aficionado Carlos "Los" Arias, Green Horizons is more than just a brand; it’s a mission fueled by their personal stories. Meade and Arias both found solace in cannabis during their individual battles with cancer. Their experiences birthed the company’s core mission: to offer cannabis as a scalable medicine. Their dedication is evident in their leadership roles, with Meade serving as chairman and co-CEO and Arias as CEO, focusing on building strategic partnerships and capital acquisition.

The duo's mission isn't a solitary one. Their visionary project has garnered the support of notable investors and partners such as Tommy Hilfiger’s Star Branding Investment Group, LLC, and experts like Norton Arbelaez, Phil Hoelting, Ally Hilfiger, Steve Hash and Kim Swift. Together, the team integrates a collective prowess in scaling facilities, creating infrastructure, and nurturing in-house CPG brands.

Phase II

Now, the company is set to roll out its Phase II expansion in 2024, adding 125,000 sq. ft. that will house its corporate headquarters and additional state-of-the-art facilities.

Specifically catering to the preferences of female consumers, the company's products are being championed by founding partner Ally Hilfiger, who will take on the role of director of advocacy. Hilfiger's own journey of healing from Lyme disease through cannabis adds a unique perspective to the brand.

One of its flagship brands, Boast, a fashion brand with half a century's legacy, is primed to cater to the next generation of cannabis consumers. Green Horizons envisions a vast market for holistic cannabis products tailored to active lifestyles, and with Boast, they're perfectly poised to tap into this niche. Boast's cannabis offerings made their debut in Ontario earlier this month and are now available in over 200 stores and growing.

In its pursuit of sustainability and giving back, Green Horizons is also introducing SOL, a brand celebrating the Coachella Valley’s agricultural heritage. SOL not only pays tribute to sun-grown cannabis but also supports the One Acre Project, dedicated to preserving sections of the Amazon Rainforest.

At the heart of Green Horizons is a story of resilience, vision, and a commitment to holistic wellness. As the company soars to new heights, it remains grounded in its intention: to harness the power of cannabis and offer it as a global-scale remedy.
