Senate Banking Chair Sherrod Brown Is Aiming For Marijuana Bill Vote Before Oct. 6

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown (D-OH) says he'll announce the scheduling of a marijuana banking bill vote in his panel soon, aiming to hold the markup session before October 6.

However, he acknowledges that there are unresolved issues among committee members that need to be addressed.

Uncertainties Surround Senate Markup And Section 10 Debate

The exact date for the markup remains uncertain as senators work to secure enough votes and resolve differences on various aspects of the bill.

Section 10 of the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act, which has generated disagreements, remains a point of contention between Democrats and Republicans.

“I’m not going to publicly talk about negotiating and what people are asking for or not. There are still some outlying issues — minor ones. But we hope to get people onboard and get a strong vote,” Sen. Brown told Punchbowl Monday night.
