Snoop Dogg Says 'I'm Giving Up Smoking,' We Say 'Do Your Thing' To Rapper Who Helped Normalize Weed

Snoop Dogg, our generation’s king of all things weed, never ceases to surprise, but this time he's shocked us all if what we're hearing is indeed true.

The "Drop It Like It's Hot" rapper says he’s giving it all up, stunning fans and the cannabis world who for years looked to Snoop for weed advice, analysis and encouragement as he practically single-handedly changed negative stereotypes and cliches about cannabis consumers being lazy and unmotivated. It sure never affected him that way.

What Happened: Snoop’s Thursday announcement came in a tweet on X in which he said, "I'm giving up smoking,” along with a statement revealing his decision.

"After much consideration & conversations with my family. I've decided to give up smoking. Please respect my privacy at this time." The statement was signed longhand by the legend himself.

Not long ago, Snoop famously shared his blunt-smoking modus operandi by telling us he puts a fully rolled joint into the microwave for 11 seconds, which he says helps to “trap all the ingredients.” This doesn't sound like a man who intended to give up smoking weed anytime soon, but then who knows what his reasons are?

Once we get over our collective shock, he's still our admired friend Snoop Dogg. What he's done for cannabis awareness and efforts toward legalization far outweigh the fact that he's decided not to partake. Doubtless, there are many awesome cannabis advocates and admirers who may have stopped inhaling it years ago or maybe never started.
