Last year was a rollercoaster for the New York cannabis industry, yet it demonstrated significant growth. Cannabis state regulators provisionally approved or issued nearly 6,200 licenses, permits and registrations.
That figure included 279 licenses for adult-use cultivators, 40 for processors and 463 for conditional adult-use retail dispensaries as well as 5,404 cannabinoid hemp licenses and permits, contributing to the industry’s diversification.
It seems the Empire State is starting 2024 strong with several new shops that have already launched cannabis sales as Governor Kathy Hochul continues to fight against unlicensed cannabis operations by expanding enforcement powers.
The Flowery opens its doors to customers at 3022 Veterans Rd W on Staten Island, on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The store will be selling recreational cannabis, featuring a menu showcasing what New York businesses have to offer as the company collaborates with cultivators and renowned brands to elevate industry practices and facilitate market entry.
In the meantime, The Herbal Care located at 1412 Lexington Ave., on New York City's Upper East Side kicked off sales on Jan. 4, reported Patch. Owned by a justice-involved applicant and a New York City native, Markel Bababekov, the store's offering features products exclusively from New York farmers.
On Jan. 3, Verona Collective at 5250 Willow Place in Verona welcomed guests for a soft opening featuring a wide selection of cannabis products, including cannabis flower and pre-rolls from its brands Trim & Proper, CNY Provisions and Fair Shake. The launch of recreational marijuana sales in Verona was initiated by the Oneida Indian Nation’s vertically integrated business.
Orange County Cannabis at 1308 Dolsontown Road in Wawayanda, the 45th adult-use dispensary to open in New York, launched cannabis sales on Jan. 5, creating 20 jobs in mid-Hudson Valley's community, writes the Times Union.
Three New Weed Stores In Three States
Ascend Wellness Holdings, Inc. AAWH AAWH opened a new store at 824 Reedy St in Cincinnati, Ohio. The dispensary is a flagship store for the company, situated next to the Hard Rock Casino and just minutes from the Kentucky border. The dispensary will be Ascend’s fifth in the Buckeye State and 35th across its seven-state footprint.
Jushi Holdings Inc. JUSH JUSHF opened its relocated Beyond Hello Hazleton dispensary in Pennsylvania through its subsidiary, Franklin Bioscience – NE LLC. on Saturday. Franklin Bioscience – NE LLC's new store, doing business as Beyond Hello Mount Pocono, is located at 3192 Route 940, Suite 101, in Monroe County.
Verano Holdings Corp. VRNO VRNOF opened MÜV Yulee on Friday, Jan.5, its 74th Florida dispensary and 137th location nationwide. MÜV Yulee, located at 463128 State Road 200, features online menus and award-winning product selection, including the company's signature Verano Reserve, MÜV and Sweet Supply flower, Encore edibles, On the Rocks concentrates and extracts, and Savvy flower and extracts, spanning an array of categories.
