In a small dispensary on Venice Beach, Jason Osni, co-founder and CEO of Old Pal, spotted something missing from the shop: branded cannabis products. This realization sparked his shift from a legal career to the forefront of the cannabis scene with the launch of Old Pal.
Osni recalls, “I looked around and realized no one was doing this yet. I had this gut feeling that this would begin to look like traditionally packaged consumer goods.” This moment is what laid the foundation for Old Pal.
Old Pal, also founded with Rusty Wilenkin in 2018, is a cannabis brand that keeps things simple. With an emphasis on well-loved products like flower pre-rolls and ground cannabis, Osni’s strategy is a tribute to the enduring charm of cannabis. “These are things that have worked for so long. Don’t change something that’s not broken,” he notes.
The brand’s philosophy, summed up as “It’s just weed, man,” is their way of demystifying cannabis use. Old Pal offers three variants — indica, sativa, and hybrid — simplifying the consumer journey. Old Pal’s growth strategy centers around building a relatable brand with consistent, affordable products. Expanding into markets like California, Nevada, Washington, and more, the brand is focused on long-term success. “We are building a brand that we want to be here for multiple generations,” says Osni.
